"We would like to share something we all did together, recently. We are hopeful it will inspire people from other institutes to be more helpful towards their fellow students.

So we decided to help our visually impaired fellows at Kinnaird College by utilizing the golden opportunity of our active citizenship project provided by the British Council.
We have developed a website which is specially designed in a way to make the college experience of visually impaired students at Kinnaird, slightly convenient.

We have been successful in developing a system which would enable them to find volunteers easily. Through this website, the students of Kinnaird College can interact with those visually impaired students seeking writers and can help them in their exams and other daily assessments.
This way, they won’t have to roam around in college to find writers on their own, as they can now use this website to solve this issue."

- How did they and other people react to this?

"When we first presented our idea infront of girls from Kinnaird who are blind completely or slightly and explained them what our website intended to do for them, they were ecstatic.
People were really supportive and the response was overwhelming. The basic funds needed to push-start this idea were collected from around the campus."

Social Action Project by Active Citizens of Kinnaird College is published on global Active Citizens page

Congratulations Active Citizens

"Not Another Child” is a project in Pakistan about child abuse awareness and prevention, inspired by the need to spread awareness amongst society after the Kasur Scandal. There is very little discussion about this issue; instead, the blame is often placed on the child.

The have targeted both private and public school students (aged 8-16) and their parents. The awareness raising involved statistics in society, possible signs of abuse, the responsibility of adults, how children can protect themselves, the importance of saying no and sharing the incident with parents or someone trustworthy. While the information was distributed through interactive sessions, in which parents could feedback their opinions, informative videos were screened and supporting materials were distributed including flyers and awareness ribbons.

In future, the Active Citizens will lobby for mandatory classes to be held in all public and private schools to further raise awareness about all kinds of abuse and self-protection, they would like the month of April to be dedicated to the issue in Pakistan and finally they would like to start their own organisation in order to continue their project at a greater scale.

Active Citizens!!

Hope you all are doing great and ready to do great in terms of positive impact in people's lives.

We are almost finished with the SAPs proposal approvals and now will be moving towards the implementation of our SAP's in the communities. I am really looking forward to see a huge impact with some solid evidences of SAP's in communities.

ATTENTION SEMESTER 4: I'm writing this to notify that pre-project proposal presentations will take place any time after Spring break. The schedule will be uploaded on this page as soon as the dates and timings get finalized. Please be prepare with your proposal and power point presentation. MOREOVER, I would suggest if you can come to my office and discuss your projects so that if there is anything which is lacking or needs to be change, we can do that before holidays. REMEMBER, you cannot start working on your projects before the presentations. And if you are doing anything or already have done any activity, it will not be counted in your 64 working hours.
If you have any query regarding Active Citizenship Program and Social Action project, please feel free to ask me. Do not spread any rumors or news, which you, yourself is not sure about.
