Women University Mardan Conducts DTRC Reviews

Mardan, August 17, 2026: Women University Mardan (WUM) conducted a meeting of the Departmental Tenure Review Committee (DTRC) to assess the academic and professional progress of one Assistant Professor from the Department of Physics and two Assistant Professors from the Department of Mathematics.

The meeting was convened by Honourable Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Razia Sultana, Convener of the DTRC, while Registrar Mr. Adnan Ahmad, Secretary of the DTRC, presented the relevant documentation, records, and supporting material before the Committee.

The Committee comprehensively evaluated the faculty membersโ€™ academic and professional progress, including their teaching, research, publications, academic activities, and professional development, in accordance with the prescribed tenure review criteria.

The meeting was attended by the external members of the DTRC, who provided their valuable academic and professional input during the review process. The external members included Dr. Aurangzeb, Professor of Physics, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM); Dr. Sohail, Professor of Tenure, University of Peshawar; Dr. Muhammad Ayaz, Associate Professor of Mathematics, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan; Dr. Ejaz Ahmad, Associate Professor of Physics, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan; and Dr. Gul Rooh, Professor of Physics, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan.

The Honourable Vice Chancellor emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of teaching, research, academic contribution, and professional development, and reiterated the Universityโ€™s commitment to academic excellence, merit-based evaluation, and transparent faculty review processes.

Women University Mardan Celebrates 79th Independence Day with Patriotic Spirit

MARDAN: Women University Mardan (WUM) celebrated Pakistanโ€™s 79th Independence Day with patriotic zeal at its Shankar Campus, reaffirming its commitment to education, national unity, womenโ€™s empowerment and a progressive Pakistan.

The celebrations commenced with a flag-hoisting ceremony and the national anthem, followed by cake-cutting. Students and faculty members, dressed in green and white, participated enthusiastically and presented mili naghmay to pay tribute to the sacrifices of the nationโ€™s founders.

The programme featured academic, cultural and sports activities, including Urdu and English speech competitions, mili naghmay, quizzes, a cultural folk-dress show and various sports activities. Cultural and thematic stalls were also arranged by students and faculty, showcasing Pakistanโ€™s rich cultural heritage, traditions and diversity.

Provincial Minister for Revenue and Estate, Mr. Tariq Mehmood Aryani, attended as the Chief Guest, while Deputy Commissioner Mardan, Mr. Wasif Rehman, was the Guest of Honour. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Aryani said the nation must rise above linguistic, group and sectarian divisions and move forward collectively to achieve the true objectives of independence. He stressed that education and national unity were essential for building a free, prosperous and developed Pakistan.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Razia Sultana appreciated the enthusiasm and participation of the female students and highlighted the vital role of education in national development. She said universities were centres of knowledge and awareness and emphasized that women must be brought into the mainstream of national development. Quoting the maxim, โ€œIf you educate a man, you educate an individual, but if you educate a woman, you educate a whole generation,โ€ she said WUM was making significant strides in education, research and academic development.

The Monsoon Plantation Drive under the โ€œOne Person, One Plantโ€ initiative, led by Mr. Kamran Khan and his team, were formally inaugurated by Chief Guest Mr. Tariq Mehmood Aryani, who, along with the Vice Chancellor, Guest of Honour and other dignitaries, planted saplings at Shankar Campus. A substantial number of plants were donated by the faculty and staff of WUM, while representatives of the Forest Department also contributed plants to accelerate the greening of the campus.

The Book Fair, organized by the Central Library, was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Jamshed Khan, Vice Chancellor, University of Buner, along with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Razia Sultana and other dignitaries. The guests visited the book fair as well as various cultural and other stalls arranged by the faculty and students and appreciated their efforts and participation.

The Chief Guest distributed certificates and prizes among female students securing top positions in different departments. An MoU was also signed between the Department of Zoology, Women University Mardan, and Black Horse International to promote cooperation in relevant areas.

Distinguished guests included Prof. Dr. Jamshed Khan, Vice Chancellor, University of Buner; Dr. Aurangzeb Khan and Dr. Fazle Sattar from Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM); Mr. Laiq Zaman, Former Member, Public Service Commission, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; Mr. Numan Ahmad, Regional Director, HEC, Peshawar; Mr. Arshad Kamran, former HEC Regional Director; Ms. Maria Mustafa, SP Investigation Mardan; Mr. Nasrullah Khan, Horticulturist; Ms. Nazia Shah, Former President, Mardan Chamber of Commerce; Mr. Shakir Khan, SDFO; and Mr. Sajjad Khan, SDFO Mardan, along with other academics, dignitaries, faculty members, staff and students.

The event was organized by Dr. Nelofer Ikram, Focal Person of the event, with the help and support of other members of the organizing team. The celebrations concluded with a pledge to build a progressive, inclusive and resilient Pakistan founded on equality, justice, education and national unity.

Commissioner Mardan Inaugurates Monsoon Plantation Drive 2026 at Women University Mardan

Mardan, August 4, 2026: Women University Mardan organized the Monsoon Plantation Drive 2026 at its New Campus (Shankar Site) under the theme "Together We Plant, Together We Thrive," reaffirming its commitment to environmental sustainability.

The ceremony was graced by Commissioner Mardan Division, Mr. Muhammad Javed Marwat, as the Chief Guest. The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner Mardan, Mr. Wasif Rehman, Prof. Dr. Syed Zafar Ilyas, Vice Chancellor, Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST), Prof. Dr. Farhat Amin, Vice Chancellor, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU), Peshawar, representatives of the Forest Department, senior university officials, faculty members, staff, and students.

Welcoming the guests, Prof. Dr. Razia Sultana, Vice Chancellor, Women University Mardan, highlighted the importance of tree plantation in promoting a healthy environment and reaffirmed the University's commitment to sustainable campus development.

Addressing the gathering, Commissioner Mardan Division, Mr. Muhammad Javed Marwat, appreciated the University's initiative and emphasized that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility requiring the active participation of educational institutions and the community.

On the occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between Women University Mardan and Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST) to strengthen academic collaboration, research, faculty and student exchange, and mutual cooperation in areas of higher education and institutional development.

The Chief Guest and other distinguished participants planted commemorative saplings on the campus. Trees were planted by Mr. Muhammad Javed Marwat, Prof. Dr. Razia Sultana, Mr. Wasif Rehman, Prof. Dr. Syed Zafar Ilyas, and Prof. Dr. Farhat Amin, with name plaques installed beside each sapling.

Later, the Commissioner Mardan, accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner Mardan and other distinguished guests, visited the University's under-construction Academic Block and Administrative Block, where they reviewed the progress of the ongoing development works and appreciated the University's efforts to establish modern infrastructure for quality higher education.

The ceremony concluded with a collective pledge to continue supporting tree plantation and environmental conservation initiatives for a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Pakistan.
