The University Gillani Law College BZU Multan is one of the pioneer educational institutions of the city was established in January, 1971, by the Anjuman-e-Islamia, Multan. In pursuance of the Government’s policy to nationalize the educational institutions, the College was taken over by the Education Department on 1st September, 1972. The Government provided curricular programs as well as administ

rative and financial assistance to the College. The administrative control and management of the College was integrated with Bahauddin Zakariya University as its constituent College. Keeping in view the public demand for providing specialized training in the field of Labour and Taxation Law, Diploma class in Labour laws was started in 1983-84 session, and Diploma in Taxation Law in 1986-87. The Gillani Law College has its own Library containing text books, reference books and law journals. The students can borrow books, from the library according to the rules prescribed by the University. A small Library Cell has also been established at the New Campus in the Central Library for LL.M and with the introduction of these prestigious new programs i.e., B.A./LL.B (Hons) (5-Year) & LL.B. (3- Year) this small library would be further expanded to cater to the needs of law students. At present Law Moots are arranged by a committee comprising of the Principal or a whole or part-time teacher and students secretaries. The speakers of each moot are selected by the presiding teacher. Opportunity is given to the largest possible number of students to take active part in moots. Efforts are also being made to enhance the research activity. For this LL.M program has already been started. The worthy Vice Chancellor took keen interest in this regard and got the P.C. I of the same prepared. The P.C. 1 for new building has been approved by the HEC and Planning Commission of Pakistan. The foundation stone of new building of the college was laid down by the Prime Minister Syed
Yousaf Raza Gillani on 05-05-2008. The new building is being constructed keeping in view the needs of
the College for next 50 years. It will have latest requirements for law students which inter alia includes. I. Modern Computer Laboratory. II. Vast & Rich Library. III. Law moot Court room. IV. Dispute Resolution Centre etc. The college will provide facilities of teaching & research at postgraduate level and following departments will be established:-
I. Department of Justice & Pakistani Laws. Department of Economics & Law. Department of Corporate Law. Department of comparative studies & Islamic Law
The classes of LL.B (3-Year) as (evening program) will be held at Govt. Wilayat Hussain Islamia Degree College, Campus Multan.

A Moment of Pride for UGLC! 🌍⚖️✨

The UGLC team — Sarmad Sheraz Khan (Team Leader), Gull Snober (8th Semester), and Muhammad Zain (6th Semester) — was proudly selected as one of the top three teams in Pakistan for the international rounds of the prestigious Jean Pictet Competition.

Representing Gillani Law College on the global stage, the Team competed at the 50th Edition held in Batam 🇮🇩 and Singapore 🇸🇬 from 22–29 March. The competition featured 7 intense preliminary rounds, including rigorous field tests, where our team demonstrated resilience, excellence, and outstanding advocacy skills. 💪🌟

This remarkable achievement was made possible through the esteemed support of Dr Muhammad Bilal, Principal UGLC, and the dedicated leadership of Sarmad Sheraz Khan. Unfortunately, due to an injury, the team leader could not travel for the international rounds. Despite this setback, the remaining members showcased exceptional commitment and performed to the best of their abilities. We firmly believe that with the full team present, UGLC could have advanced even further.

Although no Asian team progressed to the semi-finals this year, UGLC stood tall among the finest — marking a proud chapter in our journey of global representation. 🌎✨

📚⚖️ Gillani Law College — A Hub of Excellence in Legal Education

In his interview with Daily Ausaf, Principal Dr. Muhammad Bilal highlighted that Gillani Law College has been delivering quality legal education since 1971. The institution has proudly produced renowned judges, bureaucrats, and military officers, contributing significantly to Pakistan’s judicial and administrative landscape.

With LL.B, LL.M (Research), and PhD Law programs, the college emphasizes not only academic excellence but also practical training through its Moot Court and active Law Moot Society. Currently, over 600 students are enrolled, reflecting its strong academic standing.

Dr. Bilal also stressed the urgent need for judicial reforms, including reducing case delays, strengthening prosecution and investigation systems, and expanding the use of digital and forensic evidence across districts.
