The orientation session for newly admitted students was organized by the Department of Pharmaceutics on 21 January 2026. The Chairman, Department of Pharmaceutics, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hanif, welcomed all the new scholars and has given a brief introduction to the faculty members, laboratory facilities, and departmental achievements.

Dr. Bushra Nasir, DSA (Female), encouraged students to focus on research activities. Dr. Hina Raza provided guidelines regarding international collaborations. Dr. Furqan Muhammad Iqbal elaborated on the role of Pharmaceutics in various fields. Dr. Faisal Usman emphasized the importance of regularity and punctuality among students. Dr. Abdul Majeed gave a brief overview of the academic calendar, examination rules, and scholarship facilities available at the university.

The orientation session concluded with a vote of thanks by the Chairman of the Department.

🤝 *Lion Prof. Dr. Kamran Ishfaq* discussed the social impact of genetic disorders.
🌟 *Prof. Azam Hussain* *President Multan Crescent Lions Club* and *Mr. Umair Saeed Sheikh* member *Multan Crescent Lions Club* emphasized the importance of such initiatives.

The Department of Pharmaceutics, Faculty of Pharmacy, Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) Multan, organized a successful orientation ceremony on ,9th October 2025 to welcome the new batch of M.Phil. students for the academic year Fall 2025-27. All faculty members of the department of Pharmaceutics attended this session.

The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Bushra Nasir (Female DS), who greeted the newcomers and highlighted the importance of dedication and professionalism in the field of pharmaceutics.

Dr. Furqan Muhammad Iqbal delivered a detailed presentation on the university's examination rules and regulations, ensuring students were well-informed about academic policies from the start of their journey.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hanif, Chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutics, addressed the audience with an insightful talk on the department's facilities, achievements, and state-of-the-art laboratories. He emphasized the department’s commitment to academic excellence and research innovation.

The event was successfully organized under the supervision of the Departmental Students Director, Dr. Bushra Nasir, and Dr. Abdul Majeed. Their efforts were appreciated for ensuring a smooth and informative orientation for the new students.

The ceremony concluded with an interactive session, leaving students motivated and well prepared for their academic Journey at BZU.

The first graduation ceremony was organized by the department of Pharmaceutics. The event was presided over by Professor Dr. Samina Afzal, Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, while Professor Dr. Aman Ullah, Controller of Examinations, and Professor Dr. Javed Ahmad Salyana, Director Academics, attended as guests of honor.

The ceremony was attended by Professor Dr. Muhammad Hanif, Chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutics, Professor Dr. Muhammad Sohail Arshad, Dr. Bushra Nasir (DSA Female), Dr. Abdul Majeed (DSA), Dr. Furqan Muhammad Iqbal, Dr. Faisal Usman, Dr. Jahanzeb Mudassar, Dr. Hina Raza, and Dr. Amir Jaleel.

During the ceremony, the M.Phil Pharmaceutics graduates session 2023-25 were awarded their degrees, and position holder students were presented with distinction certificates.

Ph.D and M. Phil Pharmaceutics students who had published their research work were also awarded appreciation certificates by the Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy and the Director Academics.

Chairman Department of Pharmaceutics, Professor Dr. Muhammad Hanif presented the achievements and research activities of the faculty members, which were highly appreciated by the Dean. Faculty of Pharmacy and the Director Academics.

It was shared that the Department of Pharmaceutics has published over 600 research papers in prestigious international journals, with more than 400 students completing their M.Phil and over 40 students earning their Ph.D degrees.

Faculty members Professor Dr. Muhammad Sohail Arshad, Professor Dr. Muhammad Hanif, and Dr. Furqan Muhammad Iqbal have secured national-level projects from HEC and PSF, while Dr. Hina Raza and Dr. Amir Jaleel have obtained international projects, reflecting their passion and dedication for research.

The Department of Pharmaceutics has also established research collaborations with top universities in the UK, USA, Australia, and Europe, and many PhD students have worked at these prestigious universities for six months under HEC scholarships.

The department's alumni are serving in key positions both in Pakistan and internationally, contributing in Drug Control Administration, hospitals, Drug Testing Laboratories, PQCB, DQCB, and other regulatory bodies.

In her speech, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Samina Afzal, praised the research results and outstanding performance of all faculty members of the Department of Pharmaceutics.

On this occasion, Director Academics, Professor Dr. Javed Ahmad Salyana, commended the efforts and research activities of the Department of Pharmaceutics. He also advised students to focus on research and design projects to meet the local needs of the country.

Controller of Examinations, Professor Dr. Muhammad Aman Ullah, also appreciated the research output of Department of Pharmaceutics and said that the Pharmacy Department is the face of Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan. It has always contributed to excellent research, and its students are very enthusiastic and hardworking. The faculty is highly educated and dedicated to research and teaching.

At the end of the ceremony, the organizers Dr. Bushra Nasir, Dr. Abdul Majeed, Dr. Furqan Muhammad Iqbal, and Dr. Faisal Usman were awarded certificates of appreciation.

A meeting of the *Synopsis Evaluation Committee (SCE)* of the *Department of Pharmaceutics* was held in the office of the Chairman. The meeting was chaired by *Dr. Muhammad Hanif* chairman Department of Pharmaceutics, Faculty of Pharmacy BZU Multan .During the meeting, PhD scholars presented their synopses and progress reports as part of the registration process for submission to *Board of Studies* and the *Advanced Studies and Research Board (ASRB).*

The committee members thoroughly evaluated each synopsis and provided constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement. These recommendations will be incorporated prior to submission to the *(BoS)* for final approval.

In addition to the synopsis evaluations, the committee discussed the future outcomes, significance, and scope of research in the field of pharmaceutics. The Emphasis was focused on the vital role pharmaceutics plays in:

* Enhancing drug delivery systems

* Developing novel dosage forms

* Ensuring the stability and bioavailability of pharmaceutical products

* Addressing current healthcare challenges through pharmaceutical innovation

* Strengthening the pharmaceutical industry through research-based solutions

The committee acknowledged the importance of promoting research that bridges academic excellence with industry needs, ensuring societal impact through pharmaceutical advancements.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by the Chairman, *Dr. Muhammad Hanif,* who appreciated the contributions of all members and scholars in promoting high-quality research in pharmaceutics.

*The Department of Pharmaceutics at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) Multan* , recently hosted a highly informative workshop to provide training Pharm-D students with a comparative analysis between two powerful data analysis tools: Power BI and OriginPro. The event focused on how these tools can be utilized for advanced data visualization, statistical analysis, and pharmaceutical research. The workshop was graced by *Mr. Muhammad Sajjad,* a professional data scientist whose expertise in data analysis and visualization provided deep insights into how both tools can enhance data-driven decision-making. His session highlighted practical applications of *Power BI and OriginPro* in the pharmaceutical industry, showcasing the strengths and limitations of each software for research and data analysis. The workshop was meticulously organized by *Dr. Muhammad Hanif* Associate Professor at the Department of Pharmaceutics, whose dedication and coordination were pivotal in the event's success. Dr. Hanif’s efforts in organizing the session ensured that Pharm-D students were equipped with valuable knowledge regarding the comparative aspects of the two software tools. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutics, *Prof. Dr. M. Sohail* Arshad. He thanked the keynote speaker, Mr. Muhammad Sajjad, for his enlightening presentation, and Dr. Muhammad Hanif for organizing the workshop. A distinguished book launch ceremony by *Dr. Muhammad Hanif,* Associate Professor at the Department of Pharmaceutics, Faculty of Pharmacy, Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) in Multan title: *Simulation-Based Pharmacokinetics: Studies on Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics* " will be a groundbreaking event for PharmD students, educators, and professionals in the field of pharmaceutics. This book is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical pharmacokinetics concepts and practical applications, with a special focus on simulation-based studies. This groundbreaking book is expected to significantly contribute to the pharmaceutical sciences field, offering new insights and knowledge for students, professionals, and researchers alike. The main objective of the book is to discuss the role of simulation-based pharmacokinetics in drug development and clinical applications, practical examples, and case studies for PharmD students to relate theoretical knowledge to clinical practice and advanced topics in biopharmaceutics and drug absorption. Dr. Muhammad Uzair ex-dean faculty of pharmacy and professor Dr.Samina Afzal Co-ordinator of the Pharm-D program were the chief guest for the ceremony.
