Dear Friends
It is shared with great pleasure that Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture UVAS, celebrated World Fisheries Day in collaboration with Alltech Pakistan on November 25th, 2021 at UVAS Ravi Campus Pattoki. The theme of the seminar was “Innovation, Value Addition and Sustainable Development of Fisheries and Aquaculture Sector in Pakistan.” Meritorious Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I), Vice Chancellor University of Education Lahore, graced this event as Chief Guest. Stakeholders from Academia, Industry, Punjab Fisheries Department and Progressive Fish Farmers attended the event. Worthy Vice Chancellor UVAS, Prof. Dr. Nasim Ahmad (S.I) along with Prof. Dr. Noor Khan, Dean Faculty of Fisheries and Wildlife, Dr. Muhammad Hafeez-ur-Rehman, Chairman Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture warmly welcomed all the respectable guests. The day started with fish netting and noble guests visited and appreciated the stalls of fish value added products presented at fish processing and value addition unit UVAS, C block, Ravi Campus Pattoki. An Awareness Walk as well as, Fish Models and Fish Cooking competition was also organized. Many valuable and informative lectures regarding IPRS, Biofloc Technology, Cost effective feed, Fish marketing and Quality fish products were delivered at this occasion. Worthy Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha put a light on the formation of policies for the betterment of the Fisheries and Aquaculture sector in Pakistan. Dr. Shahzad Naveed Jadoon CEO Alltech Pakistan stressed that Fish is a future protein so we all should play our role in strengthening this industry in Pakistan. Dr. Anser Chatha, Director Punjab Fisheries Department conveyed that his Department is already in line with industry and farmers for the use of new technologies in the Fisheries and Aquaculture sector. Notable delegates from industry like Mr. Haider Ali, Ch. Nabeel and Mr. Umer Sandhu also shared their Worthy Vice Chancellor UVAS Prof. Dr. Nasim Ahmad strongly favored the ideas of the chief guest and other respectable speakers. The event was concluded by vote of thanks by Dr. Muhammad Hafeez-ur-Rehman, Chairman Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture, UVAS. Few glimpses of this event are attached below

Department of Zoology Quaid-I-Azam University, Islamabad in collaboration with International union of conservation of nature (IUCN) and Pakistan Fisheries Society celebrated world fisheries day on 23rd November 2021. The core theme of the event was protecting reverine tributaries and fish fauna in Pakistan. Various dignitaries and experts including scientists, conservationists, professors, students, and fish farmers from all over Pakistan participated in the event. Guests were Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naeem Khan, Vice chancellor Gilgit Baltistan University Skardu, Dr. Muhammad Ayub, President Pakistan fisheries society and Fisheries expert at IUCN Pakistan, Mr. Mehmood Akhtar Cheema, Country Representative, IUCN Pakistan, Prof. Dr. Safia Ahmad, Dean faculty of Biological Sciences, Prof. Dr. Amina Zuberi, Chairperson, Department of Zoology QAU Islamabad, Prof. Dr. Naeem Tariq Narejo, General Secretary PFS and Professor, Freshwater biology and fisheries department university of Sindh, Jamshoro . Prof. Dr Atif Yaqub vice president PSF and also a professor at government college university Lahore. Dr Zaigham Hasan, Joint Secretary, PFS from University of Peshawar, and Ms. Naureen Mumtaz, Member, Executive Council, PFS. Dr. Shirlene Maria, Director, INFOFISH, Malaysia briefed how INFOFISH has been involved in catering the need of aquaculture and fisheries in the countries of Asia and Pacific region. The Vice Chancellor, QAU, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, who has been away for some official commitment joined the session via video calling.
