University Public School has been a great seat of learning not only for the children of PoU employees but for the elite class as well who could afford the expenses of boarding house.
For the last almost 15 years it has been struggling to attain the past glory but unfortunately could not reach to the heights it was famous for. No question about the leadership as, besides a few, all Principals rendered their best to put it on the top position. Gohar Zaman Marhoom while addressing a teacher gathering mentioned that UPS has not gone to decline rather the other institutions (mostly from private sector) have raised their bars and have adopted their schooling as per the demands of modern era.
Gohar ZMan was the first ever principal who could envision the upcoming challenges that's why he established a computer Laboratory in1985 where very few people knew about the functions of computers. We would teach DOS & GWBASIC to selected students until BISE anounced computer as an optional subject against biology. That was still due to the efforts of UPS.
For almost 7 consecutive years our students appeared in Board exams with computer as a subject and made good grades.
Later on Malak Naz sb pushed it to the next stage through establishing a state of the art laboratory that was unfortunately not utilised properly & almost all the computers became outdated giving no solid output.
The new administration of the school have realisation but has not yet streamlined their system to cop up with the demands of modern needs that include Artificial intelligence, machine learning & robotics etc. We hope UPS will once again emerge as a leader soon after accepting the challenges & Imparting education on the new lines of ever-growing technology.
