INSTALLATION & OATH-TAKING CEREMONY (Apr 1932)
Lt Col Sir Ralph Edwin H Griffith, K.C.S.I, C.I.E, the former British Resident of Waziristan, fluent speaker of Pashto and a popular British officer in Peshawar, was installed as the first governor of the North West Frontier Province of British India. Regally Lord Willingdon gave his assent, then administered to Sir Ralph: 1) his oath of allegiance to the King-Emperor and 2) his oath of office. (18th April 1932)

The old 𝐑𝐨𝐲𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞, or 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐡𝐢 𝐌𝐞𝐡𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐚, Peshawar City, later housed the 𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐆𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐬, where the school continues to this day.

Founded in 1933 under the patronage of Lady Griffith, the school moved here in 1942 after a new government guesthouse or Shahi Mehmankhana was built near Peshawar Museum.

​Operating without proper registration negatively affects overall service quality and creates an unfavorable perception of our tourism industry. Ensuring that all service providers meet official standards, technical qualifications, and experience requirements is vital for protecting tourists and raising the benchmark for Pakistan’s hospitality sector.
