My Story of Struggle, Hope and Success

My name is Furqan Shahid and I belong to District Bannu. I am currently a 7th-semester BBA (Finance) student in the Department of Management Sciences at Islamia College University Peshawar.
My journey was not easy.
When I decided to take admission in BBA, my family was facing serious financial problems. My father told me, “Son, you should do a simple BA from Allama Iqbal Open University because I cannot afford the expenses of your university education.”
I understood my father’s situation, but I did not want to give up on my dream.
I requested my father, “baba, please borrow some money from somewhere and just get me admission in the first semester. I will manage the rest myself.”
My father borrowed money and got me admitted.
That was the day my real struggle began.
After getting admission, I immediately started looking for a job. With the support and guidance of my teachers, I became capable enough to find a job in a very short time.
I got my first job at Bubble Brews, University Road, as a waiter. My salary was Rs. 700 per day.
At the same time, I was studying at university and working almost 8 hours every day.
Managing university, job, assignments, self-study, and personal responsibilities was extremely difficult. There were many days when I was tired and wanted to give up.
But my teachers always encouraged me.
Whenever I felt that I could not do it, their words gave me new courage. They appreciated my efforts and guided me at every step.
I started my journey as a waiter, but because of hard work, learning, and continuous support, I reached the position of Assistant Manager within almost two years.
Then another turning point came into my life.
A Foodpanda rider advised me to buy a bike and start working with Foodpanda. I started saving whatever money I could.
After some months, I finally bought my own bike.
I resigned from Bubble Brews and started working as a Foodpanda rider.
Today, Alhamdulillah, I earn around Rs. 22,000 to Rs. 26,000 per week.
But for me, the biggest achievement is not only earning money.
During my journey, I have also helped some of my seniors and juniors get jobs. The person who once needed someone’s help is now able to help others.
Alhamdulillah, I am also continuing my university education through an HEC Need-Based Scholarship.
When I started my BBA, I did not consider myself very capable. I was just a student with a dream and a lot of financial problems.
But Islamia College University Peshawar gave me the environment, education, confidence, and opportunities that helped me become a better and more capable person.
Today, I can manage my own expenses and also send around Rs. 20,000 every month to my family.
When I look back at my journey, I realize that I could not have done it alone.
My parents stood behind me when I had very little.
My teachers believed in me when I was still learning.
And my university gave me the opportunity to become what I am today.
I am deeply thankful to my parents and all my teachers who gave me courage, guidance, and hope.
My story teaches me one simple lesson:
Financial problems can make your journey difficult, but they do not have to stop your dreams.
If you have determination, hard work, good guidance, and people who believe in you, you can change your life.
I started with a borrowed admission fee, a Rs. 700 daily job, and a dream. Today, Alhamdulillah, I am standing on my own feet and helping my family.
