Merit triumphs as UO distributes final batch of PM Laptops

The University of Okara (UO) on Tuesday distributed the remaining 58 laptops among its students under the Prime Minister's Laptop Scheme – Phase III, completing the distribution process for all eligible students selected from the university.
The laptops were awarded strictly on merit, reflecting the university's commitment to transparency, fairness, and academic excellence. The distribution ceremony was conducted by the Director of IT Services, Dr. Riaz-ul-Amin, who handed over the laptops to the successful students and congratulated them on their achievement. He was accompanied by Assistant Professor of Computer Sciences, Dr. Javed Rasheed; and Chairperson Department of Teacher Education, Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Arshad.
In his special message on this occasion, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Sajjad Mubin, congratulated the recipients and described the Prime Minister's Laptop Scheme as a significant initiative for promoting digital learning and academic excellence among university students.
He said that access to modern technology has become indispensable for quality education, research, and innovation. "These laptops are not merely devices; they are gateways to knowledge, creativity, and professional development. I encourage students to utilize them responsibly to enhance their academic performance, develop digital competencies, and contribute positively to society," he remarked.
The VC further stated that the University of Okara remains committed to creating a technology-enabled learning environment and appreciates the Government of Pakistan for continuing initiatives that empower talented students through merit-based opportunities.
The recipient students expressed their gratitude to the Government of Pakistan and the University administration for ensuring a transparent and merit-based distribution process, stating that the laptops would greatly support their studies, research, and skill development.
