*Writers’ Club & WDC Meet Vice Chancellor at GC Women, University Sialkot*
The Writers’ Club and Women Development Cell (WDC) met with the Vice Chancellor of Government College Women University Sialkot and presented Galaxy, Volume 2. The meeting focused on improving the magazine’s content quality, editing, and printing for future editions.
The Vice Chancellor appreciated the editorial team’s efforts and shared key suggestions for enhancement. She also encouraged WDC to initiate more impactful women empowerment programs to support students’ confidence and leadership development.

A day of inspiration, creativity, and empowerment! 🌸
The Women Writers Celebration held on 15 April 2026 at GC Women University Sialkot was a vibrant tribute to the power of women’s voices. The event organized by the Department of Sociology and Criminology, Writers Club and Women Development Centre, was graced by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Shazia Bashir, who inaugurated the ceremony with a cake-cutting and delivered a powerful message encouraging women to move beyond traditional stereotypes and express their creativity through writing.
📚 The spotlight shone on our accomplished women writers — Dr. Syeda Sadia, Dr. Sabina Awan, Dr. Shagufta Firdous, Dr. Riffat Chaudhary, Ms. Rabia Naveed, and Ms. Zonaira — who shared their inspiring journeys and reflections, motivating young minds to step into the world of authorship.

Greetings from Higher Education Commission!

The Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) is pleased to initiate the nationwide rollout of the online certified leadership program titled “Take The Lead – Empowering Women Across Pakistan”, in collaboration with PAGE Foundation. This flagship initiative is designed to equip young individuals with a primary focus on female students with leadership, personal development, and professional skills through a fully online, self-paced learning platform.

A key highlight of this program is that participants will undertake courses from eCornell (Cornell University’s official online learning platform). eCornell is globally recognized for delivering professional certificate programs developed by Cornell University faculty, one of the world’s leading Ivy League institutions. These courses are industry-relevant, practical, and widely valued by employers worldwide. Upon successful completion, participants will receive an internationally recognized certification from eCornell, significantly enhancing their employability and positioning them for future opportunities, including the PMYP Youth Business Loan Scheme, which includes dedicated quotas for women entrepreneurs.

Disseminate this information through university leadership and relevant focal persons (including YDCs)
Monitor and support implementation to ensure timely and effective ex*****on

*Awareness Session on Ending Digital Violence Against Women & Girls Held at GCWUS*

Under the visionary leadership of honourable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Shazia Bashir, an impactful Awareness Session on “Unite to End Digital Violence Against Women and Girls” was successfully conducted on 24 November 2025 in the Auditorium, Government College Women University Sialkot (GCWUS). The event was a collaborative effort of the CM Female Youth Ambassador Program, Women Development Centre (WDC), Departments of English and Computer Sciences, Anti-Harassment Committee, and Character-Building Society.

Dr. Aisha Farid, Director WDC, warmly welcomed the audience and expressed gratitude to the distinguished resource persons Advocate Adnan Safdar Khokhar and Dr. Usman Ashraf for their valuable contributions.

In an engaging and interactive session, Advocate Adnan Safdar Khokhar discussed the concepts and types of violence and harassment within the framework of Pakistani Law, emphasizing the importance of reporting such acts and adopting practical measures to prevent and combat all forms of violence.

Dr. Usman Ashraf, Head of the Department of Computer Sciences, highlighted the significance of cybersecurity in today’s digital landscape. He shared essential strategies to secure personal data and protect oneself from digital harassment and cyber threats.

Representing the CM Female Youth Ambassador Program, Dr. Samia extended heartfelt thanks to the speakers and participants for making the session meaningful and impactful.

The event concluded with the presentation of shields to the esteemed resource persons, marking a successful step toward empowering young women and strengthening collective efforts to end digital violence.

✨ GCWUS Unites Against Digital Violence! ✨

GC Women University Sialkot held a powerful Awareness Walk & Posters Display on 19 November 2025 to highlight the urgent need to Unite Against Digital Violence Against Women and Girls.

Led by our esteemed Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shazia Bashir, the walk began from the Bilqees Edhi Block, joined by the Director WDC, Focal Person Female Youth Ambassador Program, Heads of English & Computer Sciences Departments, and In-charges of Anti-Harassment Committee and Character Building Society.

Students carried impactful posters, charts, and slogans advocating safe online spaces and responsible digital behaviour. The walk concluded at the Administration Block where the University Ambassador for WDD shed light on the cause, followed by inspiring remarks from the Vice Chancellor, who appreciated the organizers for raising awareness on this critical issue.
