Aušra Vasiliauskaitė, Kaunas
◼ Sister Aušra Vasiliauskaitė is a Benedictine nun and is active in social and scientific activities in Lithuania.
◼ In 2014, she defended her doctoral thesis entitled “Possibilities of applying the pastoral hermeneutic-communicative model in the Benedictine communities of Kaunas, Otwock (Otwock) and Alexanderdorf (Alexanderdorf) in the context of pastoral care in Tyle”. She has been an associate professor since 2021.
◼ From 2002 to 2014, she studied at the University of Vytautas the Great and the University of Leuven.
Since 2005, she has been an archivist at a monastery of Benedictine nuns in Kaunas.
◼ During her undergraduate and doctoral studies, she worked on the topic of pastoral models and created a new pastoral hermeneutic-communicative model in the area of monasticism and in the new context of the pastoral of silence. Major fellowships and internships she has held have taken place in Poland, Germany, Belgium, Belarus, Australia, the USA and Canada, among others.
◼ Her research interests include: History of monasticism, pastoral care, history of monastic spirituality, bioethics, sexual ethics, NFP (fertility awareness), clinical pastoral care and social teaching.
