Za sterami: doktorant Davood Rafiei, dr Mahboubeh Shahrbaf Motlagh, dr hab. Remigiusz Durka i dr Aneta Wojnar - we współpracy z Kawiarnią Filmową.

📣 Call for Applications – Arqus Summer School on Democracy: Political and Social Polarisation
Political polarisation is not just an academic buzzword. It affects how democratic systems work in real life. Recent research shows that high levels of polarisation can weaken democratic accountability by eroding trust, narrowing political debate, and encouraging negative campaigning. Many further studies in the literature explore how polarisation shapes voter behaviour, party systems, and institutional checks and balances.

Our summer school will explore these issues from a comparative European perspective, combining theory with empirical research.

📍 Wrocław, Poland
🗓 8–12 June 2026
📅 Application deadline: 26 February 2026
📢 Results announced: 3rd March 2026

👥 Open exclusively to PhD candidates and MA students from Arqus Alliance universities (maximum two participants per university)

💬 Around 25 top candidates will be shortlisted for short online interviews.

📄 Accepted participants will submit a research paper of approximately 20,000 characters (including references) related to the summer school theme one week before the programme and present it during the summer school.

💰 Participation is fully funded by the University of Wrocław (including travel cost to and from Wroclaw). Financial details will be shared individually by email.

We open our doors, share classrooms and collaborate internationally 💙

Last year, we hosted 167 visiting professors from universities around the globe — delivering lectures in English (and other languages), working on joint projects and bringing fresh perspectives into everyday campus life. Among them were guests from universities such as Oxford University, Tsinghua University, Columbia University, Duke University, KU Leuven, Sorbonne University or the University of Toronto.

And 2026 is already warming up 👀
So far, 13 visits are confirmed, with more on the way — including for example Yale University or Seoul National University.

If you’re made for studying in a truly international environment, our English-taught programmes are a great chance to learn alongside students and professors from around the world. Are you in? :)

We’re proud to share that the University of Wroclaw moved up over 30 places in the latest QS Europe 2026 ranking, now 281st in Europe! 🌍

In Central & Eastern Europe we’re 17th, and in Poland we’re 5th overall and 4th among classical universities. Our strengths show up in everyday university life: close contact with lecturers, real international opportunities and graduates whose diplomas are respected by employers across Europe.

With over 958 universities from 42 countries ranked, it’s amazing to see UWr among the top institutions in Europe! It’s the result of the work of our whole community — and it’s genuinely wonderful to see it recognised.

Even though she’s still a student, Nikola Żak just took part in something huge — the Second UN World Summit for Social Development in Qatar, where the United Nations set the agenda for global social development for the next 20 years.

The UN only hosts summits like this when the world is going through major changes — and right now, there’s a lot happening: ageing societies, migration, women’s and children’s rights, and environmental challenges. The last summit took place 30 years ago in Copenhagen, which shows how big this moment really is.

What makes it even cooler? Polish students were one of the youngest delegations at the summit and the only student representatives from Poland, alongside official diplomatic delegates. The group had eight students in total — seven from the University of Warsaw — and Nikola was the only student representing Wroclaw and our University.

Big stage, big impact and a proud moment for UWr 💙
