Operating within the framework of Human and Social Sciences, the University of Lisbon Centre for English Studies (ULICES/CEAUL) brings together groups of researchers dedicated to single and multidisciplinary lines of research in the fields of literature, culture and linguistics within the English-speaking world, with particular emphasis being given to contemporary issues in British and North Ameri

can Studies. This type of research is further complemented by translation and reception studies, paying close attention to the connections between Portuguese culture and English-speaking cultures, as well as by new media studies.
