MEETING OF THE MANAGEMENT OF KAZAKH NATIONAL MEDICAL UNIVERSITY NAMED AFTER S.D.ASFENDIYAROV WITH UNDERGRADUATES
September 7, 2026 at the Kazakh National Medical University named after S.D. Asfendiyarov, a meeting of the teaching staff (TS) and employees of the university departments with first-year undergraduates of various educational programs (ЕP), including the Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Production Technology programs. The purpose of the event was to acquaint undergraduates with the Schools and departments of the university, the selection of a topic and scientific leaders for the implementation of master's theses.
The magistracy is the second stage of higher education, which follows the bachelor's degree and allows for advanced specialization.
The practice of dividing higher education into undergraduate and graduate studies arose as a result of Kazakhstan joining the Bologna process in 2011. In the scientific and pedagogical magistracy, training for 2 years and a graduate, following the results of training, defend a dissertation for a master's degree. In a specialized magistracy, training for 1 year and graduates defend the project based on the results of training.
First Vice-Rector of Kaidarova University Dilyara Radikovna - Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan made a welcoming speech to the participants of the meeting with undergraduates. She congratulated the new undergraduates on entering the magistracy of the leading Kazakh university.
Academician D.R. Kaidarova focused on the need to focus the research work of undergraduates on practical significance and subsequent commercialization, and also emphasized the importance of early involvement of students in scientific activities.
This year, 82 people entered the magistracy of KazNMU named after S.D. Asfendiyarov: 50 - under a state grant, 32 - under an agreement. The second year of study in the magistracy is 79 people: 70 - under a grant, 9 - under a contract.
The head of the corresponding department of the university Esenkulova Saule Askerovna, doctor PhD, associate professor, made a report on the activities of the magistracy and doctoral studies. She introduced undergraduates to the organization of the educational process, scientific training, and research work.
Saltanat Aitakhunovna, Chief Specialist of the Department of Magistracy and Doctoral Studies of Bukabaeva, introduced the undergraduates to key regulatory documents, the rules of academic policy, the requirements for mastering educational programs, as well as the procedure for organizing the final certification and defense of dissertations.
Deans of schools and heads of structural divisions also addressed the undergraduates: Sakipova Zuriyadda Bektemirovna (School of Pharmacy), Kozhekenova Zhanat Asetovna (School of Public Health), Esembaeva Saule Serikovna (School of Dentistry), Izmailova Slu Khabibievna (School of Medicine) and Director of the Department for Work with Foreign students of Dzhardemaliev Nurzhamal Zhenisovna, presenting key areas of development of educational programs and features of the educational process. The heads of the university departments also made presentations.
Dean of the School of Pharmacy (SР) Sakipova Zuriyadda Bektemirovna, Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor in the report noted that the School of Pharmacy celebrated 75 years this year. She is the country's leading pharmaceutical training forge. The magistracy of the School of Pharmacy received 26 undergraduates: 22 - at the ЕP "Technology of Pharmaceutical Production," 4 - at the EP "Pharmacy."
The report presented the main performance indicators, the potential of educational programs and the importance of the continuity of training levels (bachelor's - master's - doctoral studies). The contingent of students at the school exceeds 1.4 thousand people.
The personnel potential of the School of Pharmacy is characterized by a high level of restraint - from 58% to 67% in departments, which ensures high-quality scientific leadership and the development of innovative areas. PPP is actively involved in professional development and academic mobility programs.
In scientific activity, grant funding projects are being implemented (8 projects of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 8 intra-university, as well as initiative and youth projects), publication activity in Q1-Q4 journals is developing, work is underway to obtain patents and copyright certificates.
During the meeting, the achievements of students, participation in scientific events and the development of modern areas, including "green pharmacy" and sustainable development, were also presented.
