One of our exchange students from Finland, Taru, kindly agreed to share her learning and life experiences in Pskov.
“I studied at the Pskov State University in autumn semester 2016 as an exchange student. I studied different courses in different faculties but mostly in the faculty of history. In Pskov, I improved my language skills a lot.
I also got to know different cultures because our group of friends was extremely mixed from different countries I also learnt a lot about Russia and about the education system in Russia. Of course the best thing about my exchange period was the new friends that I made. I have many happy memories from Pskov State University. In December we participated in Winter Ball , where we got to wear beautiful dresses and dance in a big ballroom. We practised for the Ball many weeks. That event was unforgettable.
I can warmly recommend Pskov State University to those international students who want to learn Russian language, get to know to Russian way of life and get an adventure. Pskov is a small beautiful town with kind people.”

If you are looking for a place for walking, this 🏞️park will meet all your expectations!

The Finnish park or Kuopio park pleases not only residents but also visitors to the city.
The park itself appeared relatively recently in the mid-80s. The first thing that appeared here was a playground, which was built by the inhabitants of the Finnish city of Kuopio.

The park is famous not only for its history but also for its abundance of ⛰️greenery, you can enjoy it riding a swing the In park as well as rent rollers or a 🚴‍♂️bicycle and ride along the green alleys.
If you like 🚣‍♂️river walks, you can rent a boat or a catamaran.
And in winter, the park turns into a resting place for lovers of skating, sledding and skiing @ Pskov

Here is a short story our exchange student from 🇩🇪Germany, Johanna, shared with us: “I studied at the Faculty of Philology. I am glad I went to Pskov and recommend studying there to everyone.
In Pskov it was very cool that we, exchange students, had the opportunity to participate in various excursions and other events. It was really special and unique and I am very grateful for that!
I can also recommend making friends with exchange students. This always gives you the opportunity to communicate for example in English, help foreigners with the Russian language, get acquainted with a different culture and with a different lifestyle.

🏙️ Pskov is a small and very modern city, here you will find all the necessary infrastructure for a comfortable life: numerous cafes and restaurants with 🍕European, 🍜Asian and 🥗Russian food and you could always have your favorite meal at KFC or MacDonald’s as well, or try something from their menu that you can find only in 🇷🇺Russia.

Modern 🏋️‍♂️gyms and 🏊‍♀️swimming pools, 📽️cinemas, 🏞️parks, 🏯museums, 🏪malls, 🏟️concert halls, and 🌃nightlife lovers will find a lot to do in pskov.

🏠 Students live and accommodation

Pskov State University student dormitories are large buildings of twelve well-equipped dormitories with more than 3, 000 places. 10 dormitories are located in Pskov and 2 in Velikiye Luki. 🌍 Foreign students get accommodation in Pskov State University dormitories as a priority.

All dormitories are located in the Central districts of the city, close to the educational buildings of the University. It takes just a few minutes to get from your dormitory to your place of study as well as few minutes to the center of the city where are the entertainment take place.
🧘‍♂️ All conditions for a comfortable life, study and restful living have been taken care of in the dormitories.
There are rest rooms, sport rooms with sports equipment, and a leisure center. Student councils of all dormitories work actively.
Each hostel has a Laundry room equipped with automatic washing machines, as well as drying rooms.
Bed linen is changed regularly.
Territories of dormitories are very well protected.
The furniture in the room there are desks, chairs, wardrobes, bookshelves, beds and bedside tables.
Student rooms in dormitories are for comfortable accommodation of two or three people.
Kitchens are also equipped with the necessary equipment.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 For temporary accommodation of parents and relatives who come to visit there are prepared "guest" rooms.

⛪ Pskovo-Pechersky monastery is considered the main attraction of the city of Pechory.

The monastery is located in a picturesque valley with sandy karst caves, it is a beautiful spiritual and cultural center with a long history.

On the monastery territory there is an entrance to the Holy Caves, opened in the 14th century.
🕯️ Lay people of Pechoy and Orthodox saints are buried in them.

One of our exchange students Rachel from 🇱🇷USA shared her story about her experience PskovSU: “I had no knowledge of Russians or Russian cities beforehand. I only had the idea of strangers in a strange place.
Little did I know how familiar and kind I would find both the city and its people. Pskov was a quiet, laid back city, with plenty of nature and good weather. We have the same weather in Virginia, USA, where I grew up!

I felt nothing but patience, kindness, and generosity from Russians of every age. The love I feel towards the people I met will be with me forever. In many instances, I was informally adopted by a Russian family here, fed by a Russian family there, and of course became lifelong friends with many of the students as well. I would not have survived without the kindness of the Russian people.

The university was quaint and ran quite smoothly. I enjoyed all of my teachers and I had many excellent courses, including Political Science, Europe and the EU, etc. Despite the initial language gap, it was an incredible experience just participating.
This is a once in a lifetime chance to live as a Russian, and be treated well like a foreigner!
To meet people from all over the world studying the language and the country as I was, and to share our cultures and experiences, was extraordinary. I truly loved my time there. I hope one day to visit the streets of Pskov once again.”

💈 Izborsk is one of the first defensive points on the North-Western borders of Russia.
🌄 Since the time Izborsk was built, several monuments have been preserved on the territory of the city of Izborsk Fortress, Truvorovsk ancient settlement and St. Nicholas Cathedral.

In the vicinity of Izborsk there are famous Slovenian Keys which were made thousands of years ago, and the rumors attributed to water miraculous properties.

Another major attraction in the city is the Reserve museum, which combines the natural and architectural-historical monuments of the area.

In Izborsk there is an eco-farm with ostriches, 🦌reindeers, rare breeds of 🐑 and raccoons. @ старый изборск
