Memo for the Fourth Year Students

Site Studies & SWOT Analysis
By the way all groups should make the corrections and modifications based on the remarks made during the presentation today Monday 10th February 2014, and make Power Point presentation on Monday 17th February 2014. Presentation will start at 8 30 am.
Also come prepared to start the site model and base map.

Bahrain Visit
I checked and found that there is a 3.5 km walk through the Al Muharraq town of Bahrain that passes through the historic part of the old town. It is called the "Pearling Trail". I think you should see this part as it has good examples of old buildings of which some have been restored. Anyway, here is what you need to do on your visit to Bahrain.
1. Please take a note book to write down short notes on any interesting architectural features such as buildings, walkways or courtyards that catches your attention.
2. Note down the behavioral characteristics and the character of activities and of users.
3. Take as many pictures of the interesting features with a few of your friends in the foreground.
4. Each group will make a critical report on the visit and submit it in A4 format (landscape)
The reports should contain pictures and written notes on your observations on the visit. Each report must be done separately by each group and submitted on Thursday 20th February 2014

Notification for Fourth Year Students

The density of a housing complex is very important when it comes to design. Therefore an understanding of this essential aspect of housing is a must for all students. In view of this and from the confusion that some students are in at the moment, I think a study needs to be made by every student on this topic. Therefore, when you come to class on Sunday please bring the following information well presented in A4/A3 paper.

Each student will search the internet and find relevant information on the following:

1. Very Low density housing
2. Low density housing
3. Medium density housing
4. High density housing

The information should be on the basis of dwelling units per hectare. If you find information where the American system of measurement is used (acre) then convert the number using this information: 1 acre = .405 hectare.

Go to Google and type housing densities and you will find a host of sites.
