Department of Physical Geography and Ecosystem Science at Lund University Department of Physical Geography & Ecosystem Science, Lund University

11/12/2023

Work with us! Two open PhD positions at our department, short deadline.
The EU-funded ERC project PERENNIAL investigates how a change from growing annual to perennial crops can reduce the climate impact from agriculture and have other positive environmental effects. A transition from annual to perennial crops is expected to bring about major changes. The purpose of the project is to increase the understanding of the processes that control carbon and hydrological cycles in agricultural areas when growing annual/perennial crops/cereals. Tomorrow, March 30th at 1:15PM in room Biosfären (Geocentre I, 2nd floor, no 220, here at Sölvegatan 12 in Lund) Professor Scott Ollinger from the University of New Hampshire, USA will give an exciting presentation entitled:

"Canopy reflectance, carbon assimilation and the convergent properties of plants".

Scott's research interests span a variety of topics within the fields of ecology and biogeochemistry including carbon and nitrogen cycling, forest productivity and succession, plant-soil interactions, remote sensing, ecosystem modelling and the effects of multiple environmental stressors on forests. He is currently active in several research projects that involve a combination of field studies and modelling. His modelling activities have included regional analysis of forest productivity across the northeastern U.S. with particular emphasis on the effects of tropospheric ozone, nitrogen deposition, elevated CO2 and climate change.
