Our lab is now embarking on a new study and we would like your participation! This study looks at criticism in family relationships.
SANLab would like to extend an invite to all couples, parents and their children to take part in this study. All the participants need to do is take part in a 1h30m session where they would complete a series of questionnaires online. There will be a token of appreciation of $10 for each couple/family for their time and contribution!

We are looking for the following groups of participants:
๐Ÿ“ Group 1: Couples in a romantic relationship
๐Ÿ“ Group 2: Married couples with no children
Both partners (aged 21-55 years old) will need to complete a questionnaire.

๐Ÿ“ Group 3: Married couples with children (at least one child aged 8 and above)
Both partners and one child aged 8 years old and above will need to complete a questionnaire.
๐Ÿ“ Group 3A: Married couples and one child aged 8-12 years taking part in the study
๐Ÿ“ Group 3B: Married couples and one child aged 13-17 years taking part in the study

Please contact Hilda at [email protected] if you are interested in participating in this study and indicate which group you are interested to participate in.

Our latest work "Comparison of Wearable and Clinical Devices for Acquisition of Peripheral Nervous System Signals" is out now. Check it out:

A key access point to the functioning of the autonomic nervous system is the investigation of peripheral signals. Wearable devices (WDs) enable the acquisition and quantification of peripheral signals in a wide range of contexts, from personal uses to scientific research. WDs have lower costs and hi...

Were you or your loved ones negatively affected because of COVID-19? If so, we would like to hear from you!

In conjunction with medical and academic researchers from Indonesia and Taiwan, the Social and Affective Neuroscience lab is currently recruiting participants for an international online study on COVID-19 and mental health.

The study is ethically approved by the Institutional Review Board for international recruitment. Participation is purely on a voluntary basis, and interested participants will be able to find the questionnaire link here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe0jOghw4gTrx4lE6JqSz7cFqUphBj5ikiN3hkWWb4SlwQc4A/viewform

Thank you in advance for your time and participation in the study.

๐Ÿ“ฑ Social media have become an integrated part of our daily habits, but which mechanisms drive our online interactions? ๐Ÿค”

In our study, we investigated this issue through the lens of a gene-by-environment interaction frame, combining both genetic and psychological individual features. ๐Ÿง  ๐Ÿงฌ

Human beings engage in multiple social interactions daily, both in person and online. There are, however, individual differences in the frequency and quality of these interactions. This exploratory study focuses on online interactions and aims to model these differences by looking at potential envir...

Hello!
We just started a new project, called "Effects of the presence of human faces on ATM's trustworthiness", in which we are investigating the relationship between aesthetics and trustworthiness ratings given to a set of ATMs on which human faces, of different gender, ethnicity, and age, have been placed. To participate in this study, you must be at least 21 years old (or legal age in your country of residence). Participation is volunteer and you can withdraw at any moment would you fill uncomfortable. This experiment takes, on average, 20 to 30 minutes to be completed.

The study has been approved by the IRB of the Nanyang Technological University (IRB-2020-05-015), and information will be recorded anonymously. Moreover, the final dataset (containing participants' ratings per picture) will be released in the data repository of the Nanyang Technological University, so that it can be used in future studies by our and other research teams.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Our new preprint is out! ๐Ÿ“„

Recalled parental bonding interacts with oxytocin receptor gene polymorphism in modulating anxiety and avoidance in adult relationships

Early interactions with parents affect subsequent social experience throughout the course of a lifetime, as a repeated and prolonged perception of different levels of care, independence or control influences the modulation of emotional regulatory processes. As many factors play a role in shaping the...
