Stanley is the Founder of The Infinity Lab, an education technology enterprise helping students develop future-ready skills through real-world industry challenges and AI-supported learning. He is also the Co-founder of Cialfo, which provides AI-powered college and career discovery tools to more than 2,000 institutions across 105 countries.

Beyond entrepreneurship, Stanley is equally committed to giving back and strengthening the NBS alumni community.

Since joining the 𝐍𝐓𝐔 𝐍𝐁𝐒 𝐀𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐧𝐢 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐀𝐀) in 2021, he has generously volunteered his time and expertise as an alumni mentor and speaker, regularly sharing his entrepreneurial journey with students and fellow alumni. Driven by a desire to strengthen institutional bonds, he has also spearheaded numerous initiatives that bring alumni from different graduation cohorts together.

Today, as Vice President of Community & Social Engagement of the NTU NBS Alumni Association, Stanley continues to lead efforts to deepen alumni connections and encourage more alumni to play an active role in the community.

For Stanley, giving back has also brought unexpected rewards. Through the alumni community, he has found mentors who have shaped important business and career decisions, while younger alumni have offered him fresh perspectives on changing trends and the next generation of professionals.

From building a regulated IT franchise from zero to conquering high-altitude trails, Eric Dai’s career journey is a masterclass in resilience and fintech leadership.

As an NBS Alumni Advisory Board member and Nanyang EMBA alumnus, Eric Dai spearheaded the design and delivery of a foreign financial institution’s China IT framework and successfully launched the first-ever foreign bank credit card under a highly complex regulatory landscape.

Beyond his professional achievements, Eric remains closely connected to the NBS community as an alumni mentor and active member of the NTU Gobi Team Alumni Association, while continuing to challenge himself through ultrarunning and marathon running. His golden advice to young professionals embarking on their careers? "AI will not replace humans, but those who master AI will replace those who don’t." Build trust through accountability and learn to think systematically.

At a recent event for senior HR professionals, we were honoured to have 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐄. 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐞 from 𝐌𝐈𝐓 𝐒𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 share insights from his research on executive compensation in the US and its implications for global organisations.

Prof Core highlighted that understanding executive pay requires looking beyond annual compensation to consider a CEO’s total equity holdings, which can create significant pay-for-performance incentives. He also examined the growing use of performance-vested equity grants, the challenges of valuing them, and what these trends could mean for executive incentive design.

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟 𝐉𝐮𝐧 𝐘𝐚𝐧𝐠, 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥, opened the session with welcome remarks, while 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐰 moderated the Q&A and facilitated an engaging exchange between Prof Core and our guests.

The session is part of NBS’s continued efforts to connect leading academic research with industry practice and create meaningful learning opportunities for our alumni community.

At our recent 𝐍𝐁𝐒 𝐀𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐧𝐢 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐮𝐞 – 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞: 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩, alumni came together for an engaging conversation on how careers can evolve beyond corporate leadership. The dialogue explored different pathways, including entrepreneurship, advisory roles, consulting, volunteering, and social impact.

Led by Benedict Leow, Vice President of the NTU NBS Alumni Association’s Continuous Learning Pillar, in partnership with the NBS Alumni Relations team, the dialogue reflects our ongoing commitment to lifelong learning and to creating opportunities for our alumni to connect, exchange perspectives and learn from one another throughout their careers.

A sincere thank you to our moderator, Lim Kai Ning, Co-founder and CEO of The Courage Chapter, and our alumni panellists— Allen Cheong, Founder of Kai Asia Advisors; Daniel Chew, Group Head, Sustainability Partnership; and Ted Ng, Founder of Tedsnap who shared candid perspectives on navigating new pathways beyond their corporate careers.

At the Rethinking Executive Compensation: Insights from the US for Global Organisations event, Professor John E. Core shared insights into evolving US executive pay practices and their implications for governance, performance and long-term value.

From COBOL programmer to global business leader, Terry Smagh’s career journey has been anything but conventional.

A double NTU postgraduate alumnus (NTU MSc Knowledge Management & Nanyang EMBA), Terry became Qlik’s youngest Regional Vice President for the Asia Pacific and Japan market at the age of 29, growing a team from one to 300 in six years. He has since led businesses through significant growth and turned around a legacy business, achieving double-digit EBITDA within 20 months.

As an NBS Alumni Advisory Board member, mentor, and speaker, Terry remains deeply connected to his alma mater while paving the way for the next generation of leaders.

His golden advice to young professionals embarking on their careers? "You either Do or DO." Try with 100% effort, ask questions in real-time, and take absolute ownership of your journey.
