A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Distinguished Guest Speakers at NTU Convocation 2026. Our Convocation ceremonies were made even more memorable by the presence of five exceptional alumni who returned to campus to inspire the Class of 2026.

Mr Ong Wei Han (NTU B.ACC) introduced the powerful idea of building a "Confidence Bank Account", making deposits through every new skill acquired and every setback overcome, reminding graduates that resilience is built one experience at a time.

Mr Liew Nam Soon (NTU B.Eng) shared insights on navigating non-linear careers and leveraging agentic AI to multiply, not replace, our capabilities. He encouraged graduates to embrace curiosity as a survival skill, alongside empathy and unwavering ethics.

Dr Koh Hau Tek (Nanyang EMBA) drew on his journey across the military, clinical medicine and corporate leadership to encourage graduates to embrace leaps of faith, invest in meaningful relationships and lead with kindness, trust and purpose.

Mr Lim Him Chuan (NTU B.ACC) introduced the "TOP" formula (Trust, Ownership and Purpose) for building an authentic personal brand. He also reminded graduates of 饮水思源 – to remember our roots and honour those who have supported them.

Mr Ho Kuen Loon (NTU B.ACC) shared his remarkable journey from hawker roots to Harvard and healthcare leadership, reminding graduates that growth rarely happens within our comfort zones and that setbacks are opportunities to learn, persevere and grow.

To the Class of 2026, the future is now yours to shape. Be the change, be the impact, and keep flying the NBS flag high!

alumni and students gained valuable insights into Japan's evolving M&A and private equity landscape from Mr Tomo Suzuki (NTU Nanyang-Waseda Double MBA), President of the NTU Alumni Association Japan and Partner & Managing Director at AlixPartners. The session was held as part of the NBS Alumni Office's commitment to fostering continuous learning and strengthening alumni engagement overseas. At the event, Assoc Prof Chung Lai Hong expressed her appreciation for the strong support and warm hospitality extended by the NBS alumni community in Tokyo, highlighting the strengths of our overseas alumni network.

Drawing on more than 25 years of global consulting and business transformation experiences, Tomo shared how Japan has become one of the world's most active M&A markets, with deal volumes nearly doubling over the past decade. He highlighted several key drivers behind this growth, including corporate governance reforms, business succession challenges faced by SMEs, and the increasing divestment of non-core businesses by large corporations.

A heartfelt thank you to Tomo for sharing his expertise and practical insights, and to the alumni and students who participated and contributed to the engaging discussions.

The event reflects the continued strength of the NBS alumni community and its commitment to lifelong learning and meaningful connections across borders.

The Alumni Connect Jakarta event was held in May, jointly organised by the NBS Alumni Relations Office and PT Bank UOB Indonesia.

It brought together alumni leaders Mr Johnny Widodo and Mrs Aileen Goh, and industry experts Mr Vincentius Ming Sheng and Mr Samuel Houten to explore how businesses can translate growth into sustainable scale in Indonesia and beyond. The session began with an economic overview of Indonesia’s current climate, followed by a panel discussion on opportunities within the country’s dynamic market.

The conversation highlighted that successful expansion depends on trust, alignment, and strong ecosystem partnerships, with insights on navigating market complexity and enabling cross-border growth.
