NUS Seafarers The NUS Seafarers provide students and alumni with the unique opportunity to sail across seas and explore maritime communities in Southeast Asia.

The NUS Seafarers are students and staff of the National University of Singapore who explore the seas around Singapore to improve their understanding of the region and hone their maritime skills. In so doing, NUS Seafarers aim to facilitate cross-disciplinary experiential learning, enhance communal well-being, and to advocate sustainable maritime practices.

Passionate about sailing, community, and making an impact? NUS Seafarers is looking for members for our 3rd EXCO committee, to chart the course for the upcoming year!

✨ Why join?
• Build leadership and project management skills
• Connect with the sailing community
• Shape meaningful events (from voyages to clean-ups)
• Be part of a fun, close-knit crew
• Guaranteed spots at some of our events (eg. voyages)

✨General Expectations
• Active participation in every meeting
• Support one another and be active in helping out in events

On 19 August 2026, NUS Seafarers had our AY26/27 Welcome Tea! ⚓️🌊

It was an evening of getting to know one another, sharing what NUS Seafarers is all about, and introducing the exciting opportunities ahead across sailing, maritime heritage, and maritime conservation. ⛵️🐚

From adventures out at sea to discovering Singapore’s maritime heritage and giving back to our marine environment, we hope everyone found something to look forward to in the year ahead! We also hope that you made some new friends during the breakout sessions :)

🎖️ Pesta Sukan Jong Regatta 2026 🇮🇩🇲🇾🇸🇬
This weekend, our members joined True_North@FR at East Coast Park for one of Southeast Asia’s most special maritime traditions. The Pesta Sukan Jong Regatta 2026, held on 25 and 26 July.

The jong is a miniature unmanned outrigger sailboat, rooted in Malay maritime heritage and powered purely by the wind. No engine, no crew on board. Just craftsmanship, knowledge of the sea, and the forces of nature. It is a dying art, and events like these are how we keep it alive.

Bringing together sailors and enthusiasts from Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore, Pesta Sukan is more than a race. It is a celebration of shared culture, regional community and a love for the ocean that transcends borders.

We were grateful to have the opportunity to be part of this twakow talk, learning about Singapore’s living history through the traditional cargo boat ⛵️ that once supported trade across our waters long before modern ports existed.

It was meaningful to witness so many people come together to appreciate its maritime heritage and significance!
