The Business Study Mission (BSM) Middle East is a 13-week module which aims to provide students with insights into the culture, environment, and opportunities of the Middle East. During the course, this is accomplished through case studies, student projects and guest lectures, presenting to students real-life environmental influences and challenges that impact businesses in the Middle East. The co
urse concludes with a study trip to the Middle East, the itinerary of which includes visits to various institutions and corporations in Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.. To date, the Singapore Management University (SMU) has sent over 470 students to the Gulf region with over 70 students placed in valuable internship positions in GCC corporate heavyweights like Emirates National Oil Company, Emirates NBD, Emirates Airlines, EMAAR Hospitality Group, Etihad Airways and the Gulf Research Centre. Continuing the tradition of SMU's longest running BSM program, 50 SMU students will take off for Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates from 8 to 18 December 2013. For the first time, however, the BSM will welcome 15 of these students from the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), in a pioneering inter-university BSM program. The 11-day itinerary further includes meetings and networking dinners with government officials, diplomats, and established business dignitaries. Students will be given the valuable opportunity to interact with business leaders of Arab companies, as well as with Singaporean entrepreneurs who have established businesses in the Middle East.
