Meet Pei Qin Teo, NTU SSS alumna and Policy Officer (Northeast Asia) at MINDEF.

A double major in Economics and Public Policy & Global Affairs, Pei Qin graduated with Highest Distinction, and was also awarded the Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medal, NTU President Research Scholar (Distinction) and named SSS Valedictorian.

She later pursued an A.M. in Regional Studies – East Asia at Harvard University, before returning to public service.

Her advice to students?
“Never hesitate to ask for insights and advice from people around. And the sky is the limit!”

Where SSS Leads | Alumni Stories — Julian Lim
From Sociology at SSS to supporting others through counselling, Julian’s journey is grounded in empathy, curiosity and meaningful human connection.

A Class of 2020 Sociology alumnus, Julian is currently a Counsellor / Manager at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and also serves as Vice-President (Sociology) of the SSS Alumni Association, 4th EXCO.

Looking back on his time at SSS, Julian shares how learning Sociology and developing the sociological imagination shaped his counselling journey — helping him understand personal struggles within broader social systems and connect with others with greater empathy.

His SSS experience continues to inspire him to give back to the community. Through volunteering and alumni engagement, Julian hopes to contribute to a supportive space where alumni can stay connected, share their experiences, and offer mentorship and guidance to younger graduates navigating their own journeys.

His advice to those still figuring out what comes next?
“Embrace uncertainty, stay curious, and enjoy the journey!”

CoHASS students and alumni recently visited GovTech for an alumni sharing and career exploration session.

During the visit, participants had the opportunity to learn more about GovTech and hear directly from NTU alumni working across different roles in the organisation.

We would like to thank Bryan, Yun Rong, Dorcas, Jia Eenn and Faith for taking the time to share their career journeys, experiences and insights with our students and alumni.

A lovely evening reconnecting with the wider NTU alumni community in London! 🇬🇧✨

Associate Professor Junjia Ye (Sociology, School of Social Sciences) recently caught up with members of the wider NTU alumni community over dinner in London, bringing together alumni and former exchange students from across NTU.

It was wonderful to see everyone reconnect, exchange stories and share where their journeys have taken them since NTU.

Always heartening to see the NTU community staying connected across borders. ❤️

An evening of candid career conversations, practical insights and meaningful connections. ✨
Yesterday, we welcomed SSS alumna Wong Weiqi back for an engaging sharing with our students and alumni on labour market trends, evolving career opportunities and her own journey in the Civil Service.
From navigating a changing job market to staying adaptable and building skills that remain relevant, the session offered plenty of food for thought for those considering their next steps.
A big thank you to Weiqi for taking the time to share her experiences and perspectives, and to everyone who joined us and contributed to the conversation.
It is always meaningful to see our alumni returning to SSS to share their experiences, reconnect with the community and support others on their own career journeys. 💛

In celebration of Father’s Day, our SSS alumni community gathered for a heartwarming Terrarium Building Workshop at The Green Capsule.

Alumni and family members spent a relaxing afternoon creating their own little green worlds, sharing conversations, and enjoying quality time together.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the session so special. We hope your terrariums continue to grow beautifully — just like the memories made that afternoon.
