We’re excited and proud to share that two of our former Leads — Gaso Grace and Buay Moses — are representing South Sudan globally as ITU Generation Connect Youth Envoys!

Not only did they take part in the Global Youth Celebration on 16 November in Baku, Azerbaijan, but they are also attending the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) as part of the official South Sudan Delegation🇸🇸

Highlights from the Global Youth Celebration

This global gathering brought together youth leaders, policymakers, ITU experts, and key stakeholders to celebrate young innovators and advance sustainable digital development.

Our envoys participated in:
1. Intergenerational dialogues with high-level experts from diverse backgrounds
2. A visit to the STEM and Azercosmos Space Academy, and had Inspiring sessions with astronauts.
3. A memorable live connection with the International Space Station as it passed over Azerbaijan

Representing South Sudan at WTDC

As members of the South Sudan Delegation, Grace and Moses are learning and gaining deep insights into the decision-making processes behind global ICT development at WTDC. Their exposure to discussions on digital inclusion, ICT infrastructure, youth empowerment, and development priorities will strengthen their ability to contribute to South Sudan’s digital future.

GDSC University of Juba is proud of its growth and representation.

This event participation is made possible through the support and guidance of the National Communication Authority - NCA

It is with deep sorrow that we learned about the passing of our esteemed Dean of the College of Computer Science, University of Juba, Professor Benedict Joseph Lagu.
His loss is not only felt within the walls of our university but throughout the entire nation.

The Dean was more than an academic leader. He was a mentor, a guide, and a source of inspiration to students and colleagues alike. His commitment to excellence in education, his vision for advancing technology, and his unwavering dedication to nurturing young minds will remain a lasting legacy.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives were touched by his wisdom and kindness. As students, we will continue to honor his memory by striving for the values he upheld and by keeping alive the passion for knowledge that he instilled in us.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
