All ten wealthiest people in the world had to leave their hometowns to succeed. Dangote is from Kano, but he became a dollar billionaire in Lagos. Bill Gates is from Seattle but founded Microsoft in Albuquerque. Elon Musk is from South Africa but became a billionaire in California. People in your hometown have a perception of you. They knew you when you were nothing, and will resist you becoming something. Even Yeshua could not perform miracles in Nazareth, his Hometown. Will you, an ordinary person, be able to do what He could not do? Do your homework, and consider leaving your hometown for an environment conducive to your growth. If a goldfish stays in a bowl, it won't grow bigger than that bowl.

Something so simple that it should be common sense, yet I bet many of you would be like me reading this having a mini moment of 'aHa'. Why aren't we taught in schools? Why haven't our parents told us that? Maybe because they never thought about it too? Or maybe it has a negative association with 'thinking for yourself = selfishness' ? I won't be surprised if such self-empowerment thought is guarded instead of encouraged due to fear of 'empowering oneself'. Afterall, a school requires a certain conformity so huge group of students can sit together in a room and listen as a class. While for parents, if the child is to love himself first, they will feel unloved. Whatever the intention is, as we learn what the lack of selflove can do to us in areas of feeling worthy of oneself, and what selflove can do when we pour into ourselves, make sure to love yourself more than ever. ~ Gloria * Allure x Alchemy
