Maejo University International College Presents Results of “Local Resource Database Development” under the RSPG Project
Maejo University International College, led by Assistant Professor Acting Captain Dr. Jirachai Yomkerd, organized a meeting to present the results of the “Local Resource Database Development” initiative under the project to develop a network of local administrative organizations in response to the Royal Initiative of the Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn (RSPG) in San Sai District, Chiang Mai Province.
The meeting was honored by the presence of Mrs. Tassanee Thipanee, Mayor of Maejo Town Municipality, and Acting Second Lieutenant Paisin Mahawan, Director of Ban Maejo School, together with administrators, government officials, staff, and relevant personnel, who attended the meeting and joined the presentation of the project’s results.
The success of this initiative was made possible through an integrated collaboration among Maejo Town Municipality, Ban Maejo School, and Maejo University. Officials, teachers, students, and students from the Tourism Development Program worked together to conduct field surveys and collect information on local resources within the area under the local administrative organization.
Through this collaborative effort, more than 2,000 local resource records were collected and presented, covering three key categories: physical resources, biological resources, and cultural resources and local wisdom.
The results of the meeting and the presentation of the local resource database will serve as an important foundation for further development, conservation, and sustainable utilization of local resources. The initiative also aims to promote the participation of local communities, educational institutions, and relevant organizations in conserving and preserving local resources and knowledge for future generations.
