Maejo University Researchers Win Three Best Oral Presentation Awards at i-RESEAT 2026 International Conference in Taiwan

Maejo University has once again gained international recognition as its faculty members and researchers received three “Best Oral Presentation Awards” at The 8th International Conference on Sustainable Soil and Water Conservation and Rural Development (i-RESEAT 2026), held at National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST), Pingtung, Taiwan, on 8 May 2026.

The award-winning research presentations included:

The closing ceremony of the “Agriculture Sustainability and Culture Exchange Program” (9th batch) was held at Room PT 106, Plant Science and Technology Building, Maejo University.
🌐 The ceremony commenced with a warm welcoming speech delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rapeephun Dangtungee, Dean of the International College, who extended greetings to all participants and highlighted the significance of international academic and cultural exchange in promoting sustainable agriculture.
🏅 The highlight of the event was the certificate presentation ceremony, graciously presided over by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Weerapon Thongma, President of Maejo University, who honored the students in recognition of their successful completion of the program.
The event concluded with closing remarks, followed by a group photo session.

Maejo University, in collaboration with National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, Organizes The 8th i-RESEAT 2026 International Conference in Taiwan

Maejo University, in collaboration with National Pingtung University of Science and Technology and with support from the Agency of Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation and Thailand’s Land Development Department, organized “The 8th i-RESEAT 2026: International Conference on Sustainable Soil and Water Conservation and Rural Development” from 8–10 May 2026 at National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, Pingtung, Taiwan.
The conference brought together researchers and participants from five countries. Research presentations were categorized into:
• 71 oral presentations
• 36 poster presentations
Associate Professor Dr. Weerapon Thongma, President of Maejo University, led a delegation of university executives, faculty members, and students to participate in the conference and present their research on the international stage.
Faculty members and students from the International College, Maejo University, presented three research papers:

School of Liberal Arts, University of Phayao Visits International College, Maejo University to Exchange Ideas on International Education Development

On 8 May 2026, administrators, faculty members, and staff from the School of Liberal Arts, University of Phayao visited the International College, Maejo University, Chiang Mai, to exchange knowledge and experiences in organizational management, teaching and learning management, as well as approaches to curriculum development and the advancement of international education.

On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rapeephun Dantunggee, Dean of the International College, Maejo University, together with the college’s administrators and staff, warmly welcomed the delegation and delivered a presentation on the college’s vision, mission, academic operations, organizational management, personnel development, and the establishment of international academic collaboration networks.

The study visit included exchanges of experiences and best practices in curriculum development, organizational and personnel management, language skill enhancement, student development in multicultural contexts, and the creation of a learning environment that supports internationalization.

This study visit served as an important opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the two institutions. It also contributed to the enhancement of academic capabilities, educational management, and the advancement of educational quality toward international standards in the future.

On May 7, 2026, executives and faculty members from Maejo University visited Chaoyang University of Technology to participate in a meeting on academic collaboration and an institutional study visit.

Associate Professor Dr. Weerapon Thongma, President of Maejo University, together with assistant presidents, the Dean of the School of Administrative Studies, the Dean of the Faculty of Science, as well as executives from the International College and the College of Renewable Energy, joined discussions on strengthening academic cooperation, collaborative research, student and staff exchange programs, and the development of joint academic programs in the future.

During the visit, the delegation also toured the university’s teaching and learning facilities, laboratories, and technological innovation centers. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen institutional networks and further develop international academic collaboration.

On May 6, 2026, at National Ilan University, Taiwan, the “International Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Applied Solutions Competition 2026” was held under the theme “Advancing Sustainable Technologies and Entrepreneurship for Agricultural, Environmental, and Social Impact.” The event was attended by executives, academics, and representatives from various international higher education institutions.

The afternoon session began with the opening ceremony and welcome remarks, featuring reports and greetings delivered by representatives from both universities. The program also included an exchange of souvenirs, a group photo session, and an Innovation Poster Presentation showcasing innovative works.

This was followed by a series of Keynote Sessions delivered by distinguished speakers from various fields, including AIoT and smart agriculture, circular agriculture for sustainable tourism, and innovations in food, health, and sustainability. The sessions featured speakers from National Ilan University, an agri-tourism entrepreneur, and executives from Maejo University, who shared their expertise and experiences.

In addition, the fourth keynote session titled “Innovation Ecosystems for Sustainable Futures” was delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Weerapon Thongma, President of Maejo University, reflecting his vision for driving innovation toward a sustainable future.

On May 6, 2026,
Associate Professor Dr. Weerapon Thongma, President of Maejo University, presided over the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Maejo University and Wuling Farm. The agreement aims to strengthen collaboration in agriculture, environmental management, and sustainable development.

On the same occasion, a second MOU was signed between the Faculty of Science at Maejo University and the College of Bioresources at the National Ilan University. This agreement establishes a Natural Science Dual Degree Program at both the Master’s and Ph.D. levels, supporting joint academic programs, student and staff exchanges, and collaborative research in natural sciences and bioresources.

Following the signing ceremonies, executives from both institutions held an academic discussion to explore further avenues for future collaboration, including joint research, curriculum development, and long-term institutional partnership strategies.
