🎓 TEGL Student Returns from Erasmus+ ICM Exchange at the University of Trento, Italy! 🇮🇹🌍

The Teaching English as a Global Language (TEGL) Program is delighted to celebrate the successful completion of an international exchange experience by Waraporn Theerasak, a Ph.D. candidate in TEGL.

As an Erasmus+ ICM Exchange Student, Waraporn spent the semester at the Department of Sociology and Social Research, University of Trento, Italy, from February 2 to July 31, 2026.

During her exchange, she engaged in academic activities, participated in discussions with international scholars and students, and gained valuable insights into linguistic and social research. Her experience also provided opportunities to explore new cultures, broaden her perspectives, and experience life in an international academic community.

This exchange represents a meaningful step in Waraporn’s academic and personal journey, strengthening her research perspectives, intercultural understanding, and global academic connections. 🌏✨

Lecturer and students from the Teaching English as a Global Language (TEGL) program, Department of English Language Teaching, Faculty of Education, Burapha University, participated in TAAL Applied Linguistics (AL) Day 2026, held at the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA), Bangkok, on August 1, 2026.
Organized by the Thai Association for Applied Linguistics (TAAL), this year's event was held under the theme "Applied Linguistics in Times of Tension: Criticality, Inclusivity, and Sustainability." The program featured a keynote address on Language in Action: Linguistics Skills for Community Engagement, parallel Special Interest Group (SIG) sessions, and interactive afternoon workshops led by distinguished scholars from leading universities across Thailand.
The TEGL program was also honored to have Asst. Prof. Dr. Denchai Prabjandee, Head of the Department of English Language Teaching, serve as one of the invited speakers in the Criticality Special Interest Group, contributing his expertise to discussions on contemporary issues in applied linguistics.
Through their participation, TEGL students had the opportunity to explore current perspectives on critical applied linguistics, inclusivity, multilingual education, linguistic human rights, sustainability, and community engagement. They also gained hands-on experience through interactive workshops, exchanged ideas with researchers and educators from various institutions, and expanded their academic and professional networks.
Participation in this event reflects the TEGL program's commitment to providing students with meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom while fostering critical thinking, research engagement, and global perspectives in English language teaching.

From Dissertation to Publications 🎓📚

The Teaching English as a Global Language (TEGL) program proudly showcases the research publication achievements of Van Huynh Ha Le, Ph.D. graduate, whose doctoral research explores the integration of Virtual Reality (VR), Virtual Exchange, and communication strategy instruction to enhance second language (L2) oral fluency in English as a Multilingua Franca (EMF) contexts.

Her research demonstrates how innovative digital learning environments can foster learners’ communication confidence, self-efficacy, and authentic language use while contributing to the advancement of Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL).
