Mahidol Brass and Percussion Department

The faculty of the Brass and Percussion Department are active in a wide variety of professional activities but they all hold teaching to be their top priority.

The College of Music’s Brass and Percussion Department is the largest and most comprehensive department of its kind in Southeast Asia. It is home to ten full-time faculty, four part-time faculty, and over 100 students ranging from Pre-College through Doctoral level. They feel strongly that music students should have full access to their teachers and they accordingly work exclusively at the College

of Music. Many of the faculty have achieved international recognition through their publications, regular appearances at international conferences, and their student’s track record of success. The Brass and Percussion Department’s faculty are active as performers as well as teachers. Their performance credentials include positions in the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra, performances at international conferences, and frequent recital appearances in chamber music and solo settings. Mahidol’s brass and percussion students are trained to become leaders in Southeast Asia’s emerging classical music scene and have enjoyed exceptional success. They hold positions in Bangkok’s semi-professional training orchestras, have won competitions worldwide, and have been appointed to professional performing and teaching positions throughout Southeast Asia.

เปิดประตูสู่โลกดนตรีที่กว้างกว่าที่เคย ชวนทุกคนมาค้นหาแรงบันดาลใจ ทำความรู้จักกับหลากหลายเส้นทางในสายดนตรี และค้นพบศักยภาพของตัวเองผ่านประสบการณ์และกิจกรรมที่หลากหลาย

ไม่ว่าคุณจะเป็นน้อง ๆ ระดับมัธยมศึกษาตอนต้น–ตอนปลาย นักศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรีที่สนใจศึกษาต่อระดับปริญญาโทและปริญญาเอก หรือผู้ที่กำลังมองหาเส้นทางการเรียนต่อด้านดนตรี ที่นี่คือพื้นที่สำหรับการเชื่อมโยงแรงบันดาลใจ พัฒนาศักยภาพ และสร้างเส้นทางดนตรีในแบบของตัวเอง พร้อมแนะแนวเส้นทางอาชีพด้านดนตรีและไขทุกข้อสงสัยเกี่ยวกับการสอบเข้า

✨ Exciting News! As part of their prize, Ratchata and Emmika will each perform a single movement of their concerto alongside the Mahidol Symphony Orchestra on September 22, 2026!

Meet Our First-Prize Winners:
🌟 Ratchata Buanak (Euphonium): Currently pursuing his Bachelor’s degree under Dr. Boonyarit Kittaweepitak and Kitti Sawetkittikul. Ratchata holds numerous accolades, including top prizes at YAMC 2025 and international Tuba Euphonium conferences. He is a highly active performer, playing with distinguished ensembles like the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra and Mahidol Wind Orchestra, and refining his skills in masterclasses with internationally renowned artists.

🌟 Emmika Loivirat (Piano): A fourth-year Bachelor of Music student studying under Dr. Eri Nakagawa. A previous winner at the Yamaha Thailand Music Festival, Emmika recently performed Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor, Op. 37, and was featured in a special 20-piano performance of Bizet's Carmen Suite No. 1 right here at Mahidol University.
