The second cohort of Orthotics & Prosthetics students fit their first transfemoral prosthesis on their patient models yesterday.

They worked with their patient to make modifications to the socket (including trimming and heat modifications for volume or contour concerns), perform alignment (including dynamic alignment which involves the patient walking in the parallel bars and the student assessing the patient’s gait), and make further adjustments to optimize the gait until the patient was walking as efficiently as possible with the prosthesis.
