A huge thank you to the SVO advisor, Dr Rodriguez, and the head of the VMSS, Robert Murphy for their attendance. We worked through some upcoming event processes and are diligently working for a super Veterans Day celebration. We hope to continue building on our foundation.

Trump signed the ‘Forever GI Bill.’ Here are 11 things you should know.

Take a moment and review this.

President Trump has just put his signature on a new law that will bring significant changes to education benefits for service members, veterans and their families. To whom is may concern, I wanted to reach out and extend an offer to all veterans who either run this page or visit this page. I have a retired Colonel of the Air force grandfather, a current Cheif in the Navy brother in law, a retired father who spent 21 years in the Navy, a cousin who was a combat medic in the Army serving two tours, and several other aunts and uncles who were coreman in the Navy. My reason in explaing this is, I have a lot of heart and honor for those who have served or are still serving.
I currently work at Gold's Gym in Aiken, SC. I would love to extend an offer to you for you to either post or offer to those you know who have sacrificed their life for us. Here at our gym we have an enrollment fee of $99 to get started. I'd like to waive that entirely and offer them a gym membership for the best price they can get. This will also allow them to work out at any Gold's Gym facility nationwide. If you think that this could be a good offer to run, please write me back or give me a call at the gym. Thank you for your time!

Would members like to set up a vending booth at the event?

Sneak Peek- Some of us are considering a tubing trip down a river (How is that for specifics?). We are looking at taking a Saturday trip to Columbia and floating down one of the great rivers there. How many people may be interested? Tubes can be purchased at Walmart or Academy, or they can be rented in Columbia. If you are interested let us know. It should be a great way to beat the heat and enjoy the last of the Summer before Fall semester starts up again.

We confirmed a date and time with the Fisher House for The USCA SVO and Wyandotte SMoke to provide dinner. We will be preparing and serving dinner on Tuesday evening, July 18, 2017 at 1900. We need to be there about 1845 to set everything up. We need 5-7 volunteers.

We are pleased to welcome Shequita Morris (Shawn) as your new USCA Student Veterans Organization secretary. She will be a strong addition to our team of officers. A 2017-2018 officer pic will follow soon.

Wyandotte Smoke has asked to partner with the USC- Aiken Student Veterans Organization in an effort to feed the families at The Fisher House in Augusta. We will contact the Fisher House and get scheduled for a night to feed the families of veterans. We will need a minimum of 7 volunteers to do this. Please contact a USCA SVO officer if you are interested in volunteering in this event. More will follow.

Currently your Student Veterans Organization is headed by the officers elected last year. We asked for interest for an election for next year and had no one come forward. We now have an opening that needs to be filled. Our president has stepped down. William Thomas James IV, our VP is expected to move into that position. Doc, Robert Franklin and Jennifer Braddy have not yet spoken about any collateral moves. Regardless, the will be an officer position open. If you are interested in becoming an officer, please notify one of us asap. This is a wonderful opportunity.

If you are interested in becoming an officer for the 2017-2018 term please contact a current officer, Katherine Hanson, Will James, Jenna Braddy, or Robert Franklin, or simply message us here.

As the semester comes to a close, and it will shortly, your SVO is up for an election of officers. If you are interested in becoming a SVO officer please message us here or talk with a current officer and let them know of your interest.

Soon school will be out. We are looking at a Leadership Weekend Retreat, possibly the first weekend of May, at Clark's Hill/Lake Thurmond. Details will follow, but how many of you would be interested?

Just FYI- Your officers took notice that your Student Veterans Organization was not represented at the circle of bricks around the flag pole. After some discussion, we chose to ensure that the SVO was properly represented for years to come. Today we ordered a Student Veterans Organization to be placed.
