The work produced will form the basis of the Global & National Security Symposium in late August, after which the Fellows will finalize their work for publication in an anthology/edited volume (aka a book with different authors for each chapter).

As we all reflect on the 25th anniversary of the attacks of September 11th, 2001, I wanted to share an article from the SpyTalk Substack, asking CIA officers to reflect on their memories of that day. GNSPI's founding director, Emile Nakhleh, was asked to contribute.

Note that you may have to sign up for a free trial to view the entire article.

Did you miss the deadline for Fall 2026 or can't find suitable letter-writers for recommendations?

GNSPI offers an expedited application process that waives the deadline, letters of recommendation, and the pre-review by the admissions committee. In their place, Expedited Applicants will go through a Director-only review and then base their acceptance on their performance in the first course (GLNS500: Intro to Global & National Security Policy).

Expedited Admissions bases your acceptance on your performance, rather than your potential. It's especially useful for professionals who are removed from their academic contacts.

For more info or application instructions, reach out to us at (505)-277-3223 or [email protected].

Introducing the Graduate Certificate in Global and National Security Policy!

Our brand new interdisciplinary graduate certificate was developed for security professionals (or pre-professionals) who want a shorter, more targeted degree program with options to explore the type of global & national security policy that interests them most.

We developed the certificate with Political Science and Public Policy to provide grounding in policy analysis and practitioner-focused writing skills that the student can apply to the global or national security area of their choosing—from nuclear security to cybersecurity to military strategy to global health security.

This official UNM program produces a certificate that appears on the student’s transcript.

If you are interested in learning more about the expedited application process that waives the letters of recommendation requirement and the deadline, please reach out to us at [email protected].
