This morning, the Alexandria-Fairfax (VA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. joined Alexandria City Public Schools for their Hellos, Handshakes, and High Fives initiative to welcome students back for the 2026–27 school year.

Our Brothers showed up at Patrick Henry K-8 School and Jefferson-Houston PreK-8 IB School with smiles, encouragement, and plenty of high fives to help create a warm and welcoming start to the school year. 📚🏾🎓

Over the weekend, Brothers Bryan Cannon and Roland Alexander became the newest PADI-certified Open Water Scuba Divers, marking an incredible milestone both in and out of the water.

Led by Brothers Kim Walker and Mark Williams, the Alexandria-Fairfax (VA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. is helping change the narrative around swimming in the Black community while inspiring the next generation of Black scuba divers. Through this initiative, 3 Brothers and 5 Kappa Leaguers have now earned their PADI Open Water Scuba certifications, opening the door to new adventures, skills, and opportunities at sea.

PART II ♦️👌🏾

Tonight, we continue celebrating 50 years of achievement, leadership, and impact as we honor distinguished leaders, changemakers, and the enduring legacy of the Alexandria–Fairfax Alumni Chapter.

We are honored to welcome Brother Jimmy McMikle, 35th Grand Polemarch of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., as tonight’s keynote speaker, alongside award-winning journalist DeMarco Morgan, who will serve as host for the evening.

We also proudly recognize our Edward J. Perkins Public Service Award honorees: Mayor Alyia Gaskins of the City of Alexandria and Rodney Lusk, Franconia District Supervisor of Fairfax County, for their outstanding commitment to leadership and public service.

In addition, we celebrate our Guide Right Achievement Award honorees — Brothers Ayden Laster and Eli Boyd, along with Naomi Hill — three exceptional young leaders whose accomplishments embody the mission and impact of Guide Right.
