Campus for Consent was founded in 2001 as Eyes Wide Open. The organization has always had the mission of spreading awareness about sexual assault and domestic violence through presentations, educational events, and Sexual Assault Awareness Week. As activism changes throughout the years, so must activists, which was the reasoning for re-branding the organization to create a stronger focus on intersectionality.
We remain sexual assault and consent peer educators at GVSU, giving presentations to groups on and off-campus, such as living centers, student organizations, classes, & Greek Life. We have held various awareness and education events throughout the years and have hosted many speakers, including Take Back the Night, The Clothesline Project, Rock Against Rape, Oppression Out Loud Poetry Slam, and our yearly Sexual Assault Awareness Week.
Campus for Consent holds two training sessions a year which give members the tools to spread awareness on campus, take disclosures, and effective presentation skills.
We have meetings every other Tuesday in KC1142 from 7-8pm and all are welcome. Feel free to come to any meetings to see what our group is about!
