COVID-19 | News | Amherst College

In response to the evolving situation with COVID-19, Amherst College has made the difficult decision to suspend most public on-campus events until at least May 1. As a result, we will not be holding any on-campus tours or information sessions until further notice.

We truly regret that we are not able to offer our usual visitor programs, but we are confident you will understand that this decision is in the best interest of the health and well-being of our community and our visitors. Because Amherst is and has always been a warm and welcoming environment that places a priority on close-knit, personal relationships, this development is unusual and especially disappointing, but unavoidable.

Despite the suspension of on-campus visitor programs, we encourage you to explore Amherst through the College website and our online virtual tour. You can also learn more about student life at Amherst by reading our student blogs and the bios of our tour guides and diversity outreach interns. There’s a lot to know about us!

The purpose of this page is to keep the Amherst College community updated on the status of the global COVID-19 outbreak and how the College is anticipating and responding to its impact on our community. We continue to closely monitor the situation and are in constant contact with state and local pub...

Good afternoon! I am a junior statistics major here at the College. Because of college, I consider three places home now: Amherst, Taiwan, and San Diego. As a tour guide, I often find that an hour isn't enough time for me to share all of my experiences here with visitors, so I'm really excited for the prospective students coming onto campus this weekend. Come say hi, ask questions, eat lots of food, take pictures, yadda yadda yadda... Can't wait to meet you all!
