Next up for #TourTuesday is our Kirby Memorial Theater! Kirby serves as the primary stage for Amherst College theater productions. A 6,000 square foot experimental theater (Holden) has been added to Kirby and is connected, via bridge, to Webster Hall.

The Theater and Dance Department typically puts together 10 to 15 student and faculty productions over the course of a school year, many of which are senior theses, and is operated in conjunction with the Five College community. Amherst students are free to audition for and participate in performances at the other four schools!

The new Science Center, which opened in the fall of 2018, provides state-of-the-art facilities and flexible spaces to support the sciences at Amherst. It is part of the larger Greenway Project that includes the Greenway residence halls and outdoor spaces. The project is transforming this part of the campus.

With its inviting exterior, large and functional main commons, visible research labs, surrounding gardens, and many areas for casual interaction, the Science Center will draw together the sciences and the wider College community.

Amherst Anti-Racism Plan | Letters & Statements | Amherst College

In a letter to the community earlier this week decrying anti-Black racism and violence in the country and at Amherst, President Biddy Martin pledged “to enlist the entire [College] community in bolder efforts to make Amherst a truly equitable and inclusive place.” “There are critical moments in history when the call for change is resounding,” she wrote. “This is one of those moments.” #WeAreMammoths #AmherstTogether

August 3, 2020 Dear Students, Faculty, Staff, and Alumni, For the past few months, I have read, listened, and thought deeply about the experiences of racism and violence that Black students and alumni have shared, and which they endured across this country and also at Amherst. For today's #TourTuesday, we introduce you to the Keefe Campus Center! Keefe serves as a community nexus for the campus. It fosters a supportive and diverse community in which Amherst students may grow personally and professionally.

Keefe is home to our five resource centers: the Multicultural Resource Center, the Women’s and Gender Center, the Queer Resource Center, the Center for Diversity & Student Leadership, and the Center for International Student Engagement. All five are under the purview of the Office of Student Affairs, and, among other things, they offer programming, support, and resources for and about specific groups, free coffee/food/printing, and spaces to build community and host meetings!

"Don't be afraid to get help. If you are doing the college experience right, it will be tough and it will push you. You will encounter moments where you can't succeed on your own. Raise your hand, go to office hours, or if necessary, get counseling. There are so many resources out there. Whatever your environment is, people (like me) are cheering you on, but we need to know how to help." - Nathan Needham, S2S VetLink Applicant, #AirForce #Veteran, Amherst College, The Ross School of Business, #AdmissionAccomplished

COVID-19 | News | Amherst College

In response to the evolving situation with COVID-19, Amherst College has made the difficult decision to suspend most public on-campus events until at least May 1. As a result, we will not be holding any on-campus tours or information sessions until further notice.

We truly regret that we are not able to offer our usual visitor programs, but we are confident you will understand that this decision is in the best interest of the health and well-being of our community and our visitors. Because Amherst is and has always been a warm and welcoming environment that places a priority on close-knit, personal relationships, this development is unusual and especially disappointing, but unavoidable.

Despite the suspension of on-campus visitor programs, we encourage you to explore Amherst through the College website and our online virtual tour. You can also learn more about student life at Amherst by reading our student blogs and the bios of our tour guides and diversity outreach interns. There’s a lot to know about us!

The purpose of this page is to keep the Amherst College community updated on the status of the global COVID-19 outbreak and how the College is anticipating and responding to its impact on our community. We continue to closely monitor the situation and are in constant contact with state and local pub...

Give a gift this year that will make a a differenceor for your Amherst student. Time Management Secrets for College Students: The Underground Playbook for Managing School, Work, and Fun
Good afternoon! I am a junior statistics major here at the College. Because of college, I consider three places home now: Amherst, Taiwan, and San Diego. As a tour guide, I often find that an hour isn't enough time for me to share all of my experiences here with visitors, so I'm really excited for the prospective students coming onto campus this weekend. Come say hi, ask questions, eat lots of food, take pictures, yadda yadda yadda... Can't wait to meet you all!
