Questions clarified after yesterday’s email regarding building access:

Access to residence halls has only been granted for students with permission to stay and will continue to be in place for those students.

There have been no reports of theft in any residence halls.

At this time, no additional move-outs have been scheduled and anyone without permission to stay should remain away from campus.

The number listed as a contact in the email is for lockout assistance and emergency maintenance for students currently living in residence.

All housing questions should go to [email protected].

UMass Amherst

While most of our students will finish their semester away from campus, we understand some have personal circumstances requiring them to remain. Today is the final day to request permission to stay. View the application and criteria outlined by Living At UMass Amherst below.

03/16/2020

Please, do not come to campus to attempt to move-out if you are not approved to be on campus during this time. You will not be able to access your hall.

We are working on a Move-Out plan for when students can remove their belongings that takes the health and safety of our students, families, and staff into consideration. As soon as we have those details, we will share them with our students and families.

If you have any questions, please contact us at 413-545-2100 Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

03/13/2020

Residential Life is currently assessing move out options and will update students and families with comprehensive move-out instructions next week.

Students have card access to their Residence Hall and Residential Service Desk until 12pm on March 14th. If you would like to check out tomorrow, please do so. Envelopes and pens are being left outside your RSD to return student keys.

If you believe you need to remain on campus over spring break, please follow up with Residence Hall staff.

If you are emailing because you left items behind, please call Residential Life Student Services on Monday after 8:30am at 413 545-2100.

Thank you for your understanding,
Student Services Staff

Tip Time! Today we're talking fire safety in residence halls:

🚒 Remember to never obstruct the smoke detector in your room. Smoke detectors are a huge part of emergency detection - keep yourself and your neighbors safe by letting them do their job!

🔥 Candles and incense (lit or unlit) are not permitted in any residence hall.

🧯 Be sure not to hang anything off of the sprinklers or pipes in your room!

♨️ Never leave cooking food unattended, whether on the stove, in the oven, or in a microwave. Hot plates, grills, and toaster ovens are not permitted in residence halls.

🚨 If the fire alarm goes off, all students MUST leave their rooms in compliance with procedures and guidelines stated in the Residential Life Community Standards.

Hi everyone! My name is Meghan Pender and I am looking for a sublease for spring of 2021 as I am graduating early. It is a renovated house on Railroad street with 6 other girls! Right near Amherst center, and a quick bus ride to campus (there is a bus stop right across the street). You would have your own room and the house has a washer and dryer. Please message me if you are interested at all or have any questions!
My out of state student has been offered an on campus job beginning July 1st. It would be nearly impossible for us to investigate off campus housing as an alternative as we are not permitted to travel at this time. As such, we only need housing from a few days before July 1st through the end of student housing on August 14th. We do not see a way or rates to apply for SESSION TWO housing ONLY. Please advise. And thank you for being on the job!
Anybody know which side of Greenough Hall gets the most sun??
My son was on Spire today trying to form his roommate group but was not able to -- do they have to wait until they get their room selection appt time on 3/25th before they can form a group? (The drop down menus within the roommate group process do not work). Thanks
Hi Umass! if there is anyone who is staying in the Amherst area I have a room in a 4 bedroom house that needs to be co-rented out from May 1st to the end of August2020. Rent is $620 a month. with 2 bathrooms your own washer and drier and kitchen and parking space. If this is what you're looking for, please email me at [email protected]!!

If you are bored this summer and want to take a big step toward completing your GenED's, think about STOCKSCH 100 - Botany for Gardeners ONLINE, which begins on July 8 and satisfies your Biological Science (BS) GenEd!
When does room selection begin for graduate students? The Graduate School has matriculated and term activated students for 1197 as of today (Monday, April 1).
Morrill Science Center class of 1990
