Purim is coming up soon! While we may not be able to celebrate in person, we would love to partake in the joy of baking these delicious baked goods with you!

We have two option for you:
Option A: Providing you with all the dry ingredients to bake Hamantashen, kind of like a brownie mix, all you have to do is add the oil and eggs. (This option is best suited for those who have kitchens!)

Option B: We would love to provide you will already pre-baked Hamantashen! (This option is better suited for a dorm room!)

Hamantashen will be available for pickup during Shabbat Meal pickup from 4:00-5:00 on Friday, February 19th and cannot be shipped. Place you order at this link by Thursday, February 18th. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScXos22Ft_h9r42JVyFK0fEhdBUnF7NxP1e_nIIq_XV_B6i0w/viewform?usp=sf_link

We absolutely condemn the horrible acts that took place in DC this past week. Students, please feel free to reach out if you need anything during this time. We are here for you 💙

The disturbing, disgraceful and violent attacks on our democratic institutions yesterday threaten core American and Jewish values and undermine the freedom and security we all hold dear. The students and communities we serve have been deeply unsettled by both last night’s assault and by fear of continuing risks to our government’s integrity, stability and security.

Hillel has long acted from a place of Jewish values to promote respectful dialogue and civic engagement, and to counter the voices of extremists that threaten our campuses and communities. We remain committed to pursuing justice for all and teaching and supporting civil discourse through our work across the country and around the world.

We know many students in our communities remain scared, perplexed and hurting from yesterday’s events. Local Hillel professionals are here for you. You can also access programming and wellness resources at www.HillelAtHome.org.

For the final day of Hanukkah, we have one final #ShareYourShamash. The shamash is the candle that lights all the rest, and all week long we've been asking folks: What's helped you get through this year?

Arete '23 says:

"UMass Hillel! This year I got involved with the Jewish Learning Fellowship and became a Wellness Intern! Hillel has helped me stay involved with the campus community, and remind me of my Jewish roots." ✡️

It's all of YOU that keep US going! Thank you for sharing your energy, joy, and resilience and for being such an inspiring community. Wishing you all a very happy Hanukkah! 💙

There are so many amazing things keeping folks going this year, including lots of pets! 🐶

Our third day of Hanukkah #ShareYourShamash comes from Ari '23:

"Getting to visit my grandma and her dog socially distanced outside when the weather was nice in the summer."

For each of the 8 days of Hanukkah, we're encouraging folks to #ShareYourShamash. The shamash is the candle in the middle of a menorah that helps light all the rest. What's helped you get through this year?

"We must never lose sight of the fact that Israeli-Palestinian peace is possible and it will be reached. It will be based on the end of the occupation, the establishment of a democratic Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza; a shared open capital in Jerusalem; economic cooperation; water sharing; mutual respect and recognition of the dignity and importance of both sides political, cultural, historic and religious heritage in this land; the removal of Israeli settlers in the West Bank and Gaza and the end of the suffering of the Palestinian refugees through return to the State of Palestine (for those who want it) with financial compensation and assistance for the resettlement, housing and employment generation for all Palestinian refugees. This was, is and will be the basis for peace between Israel and Palestine." From In Pursuit of Peace in Israel and Palestine
