HYPE Committee

HYPE Committee CAB committee aims to effectively plan, organize, and host major community events such as Hampshire Halloween and Spring Jam. We intend to reassess and revise the planning processes that were used in the past to achieve our goals of having an all-community inclusive, transparent planning model.

Roles will be delegated to members of the group based on individual strengths and skills to ensure that every member is an active participant in the planning of community-wide events. Through the events that we plan, we hope to promote diversity in the arts, conscious and respectful behavior, as well as engaged and exciting community building. The intent of this page is informational and is intended to provide information about the event. Feel welcome to refer your comments, concerns, and opinions to HYPE Committee by email ([email protected]) or private message us here on Facebook.

Every year HYPE Committee is charged with the difficult task of reviewing submissions and picking artists to perform at our two events, Hampshire Halloween and Spring Jam. While we wish we could have everyone that submits play, the scale and complexity of our events do not allow for that to happen. We have heard that some who were not chosen have wondered why and we hope that the transparency of our selection process along with the appropriate criteria provides clarity as to how HYPE chooses our lineups.

This year’s criteria for performing at Hampshire Halloween and Spring Jam.

- As there is a shorter amount of time relegated to the main stage than years prior, fewer acts are booked. This makes it particularly difficult when we are forced to cut some submissions due to a shortage of time.
- Acts eligible to perform must have the MAJORITY of students that comprise their band be currently enrolled in Hampshire. (In the case of a 50-50 split, preference will go to bands comprising of majority enrolled students)
- The music samples submitted are listened to and voted upon by members/volunteers of HYPE who come to our weekly advertised meetings. This vote is then taken into account when finalizing which submissions are selected and which are rejected.

ANYONE who comes to the majority of HYPE meetings and volunteers to help out on the day of the events is eligible to vote.

If you or anyone within our Hampshire Community has any questions or concerns regarding this, please make an effort to attend our advertised HYPE meetings.

HYPE signers.
