Zinn Education Project

Five years in the making, "A People’s Curriculum for the Earth" is a collection of articles, role plays, simulations, stories, poems, and graphics to help breathe life into teaching about the environmental crisis. The book features some of the best articles from Rethinking Schools magazine alongside classroom-friendly readings on climate change, energy, water, food, and pollution—as well as on people who are working to make things better.

At a time when it’s becoming increasingly obvious that life on Earth is at risk, here is a resource that helps students see what’s wrong and imagine solutions. Pre-order here: http://bit.ly/1tBqV3h

Hey everyone,

We are writing about the Justice for Ayyub campaign, which is working to free Ayyub Abdul-Alim, a local community organizer who was targeted by the FBI to spy on his Muslim community, and after refusing to cooperate was arrested for possession of a loaded weapon and is facing over 15 years in prison. Neither the Springfield police department nor the FBI has produced any physical evidence linking Ayyub to the gun. Ayyub’s trial is starting this Thursday April 10th and we need to show solidarity!

COURT SOLIDARITY! SIGN UP FOR A RIDE!
The Community Partnerships for Social Change office is providing rides to Ayyub's trial, Thursday April 10, Friday April 11, Monday April 14 and however long the trail lasts. Vans will leave Hampshire from the bus circle at 8:00 am and return to campus at 12:30pm and 5pm. Seating is limited. To reserve a seat please email [email protected] and list your first and last name, and what time you need to return to campus.

About the hearing & court etiquette:
At 8:30am, friends and community members will gather outside of the Hampden Courthouse in Springfield to support Ayyub Abdul-Alim. Bring signs if you want and wear blue to show your solidarity with Ayyub. Inside the courtroom: No cell phones. No hoods. No hats. No cameras allowed. Pens, notepads are allowed. We will be gathering adhering to the principles of non-violence. We are at the court to support Ayyub and show the jurors and the people that we do not accept the infiltration of our communities and the continued practices of the prison industrial complex. We will not instigate or engage in violence. We will act in a manner that is respectful and conscious of our surroundings. No outbursts or speaking in the courtroom.

LOOKING FOR DEFENSIVE DRIVERS!
Are you a defensive driver? Email [email protected] if you would be willing to drive to the court.

We hope to see you there!

This is going to be AMAZING. If you haven't yet, read up about the Free Southern Theater movement.
