Esperanza is still looking for actresses!

Esperanza is a magical realist play written in poetic vignettes about a young mexican-american girl exploring and coming in to her own identity, while watching the women in her family confront generational trauma, and struggling to understand her role in her family’s “blessing” and if this “blessing” is truly a blessing from the ancestors.

We're looking to cast Itzel/Esperanza and Seren.

Itzel is the mother of Ximena (the young girl who is coming in to her own identity and the protagonist of the story). Her and Esperanza are one in the same spirit. They are both kind, caring, and free spirits.

Seren is the sister of Itzel and the aunt of Ximena. She is a modern, queer woman who returns home to the dismay of her traditional family and acts as a mentor to Ximena.

If you are interested in either of these roles, please contact Emma Jordan at [email protected]

Persons of Color Artist Collective

Hello! Our January term community share slot, The Persons of Color Artist Collective is now accepting applications!

The Persons of Color Artist Collective curated by Hannah Jones (January 14th-26th 2019) is a space specifically created for and by theatre artists of color in the Hampshire community. This collective aims to build a toolbox of techniques, transformative practices, and community. It will be based in the creation of new work, guest artists from in and beyond the 5-Colleges; as well as collaboration with current projects that focus on the voices of theatre artists of color in a predominantly white institution.

This project is looking for all artists to apply, particularly those with a theatrical base but the team would love to hear from and see other artists apply as well, as we believe much of art is inherently theatrical!

Please fill out this form no later than 11:59pm on October 19th. Use this application as a guide, fill it out to the best of your ability and we look forward to hearing from you soon. The team will be in touch with regards to further steps in the application process. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfuN3EqVzsGLVKAMEQ_GkVmZfGzpPtwI4TvNTLJhz5oLBg_0A/viewform?usp=sf_link

SHOW AND FREE WORKSHOP WITH ONE OF THE GREAT PHYSICAL THEATRE CLOWNS, AVENER THE ECCENTRIC AT SPRINGFIELD COLLEGE Show: EXCEPTIONS TO GRAVITY at the Fuller Arts Center, Springfield College, September 14th @ 7:30 pm FREE Workshop: ECCENTRIC PERFORMING & AUDIENCE RAPPORT Thursday, Sept. 13 from 12:30 - 2:30 - contact Martin Shell, [email protected] if you'd like to come. Avner Eisenberg in "Exceptions to Gravity" is a reminder of the theatrical power that can reside in a single charismatic performer who touches the heart. A master of the art of physical comedy, Eisenberg weaves a spell of poetic simplicity in a show of hilarious predicaments. He has appeared on and off Broadway with his hit show "Exceptions to Gravity." He played the endearing Holy Man, The Jewel, in the Michael Douglas film "The Jewel of the Nile" and performed as a ventriloquist on Broadway in "Ghetto." His dummy was nominated for a Tony Award. His show defies the barriers of language and culture and has toured extensively in the U.S. and abroad. Please help spread the word, and don't miss this internationally acclaimed, Clown Hall of Fame, deeply funny and refreshing performer!
