UMass is down two quarterbacks and three receivers in the middle of a three-game losing streak, and Joe Harasymiak's message has not changed: nobody cares.

Sure, UMass is dealing with injuries, but head coach Joe Harasymiak knows, nobody cares.

Gameday: UMass Faces Buffalo In Flagship Cup Matchup.

The Minutemen try to snap a two-game skid at 1 p.m. on ESPN+ with the Flagship Cup on the line. Today's keys: contain Messiah Burch, attack Buffalo's coverage weaknesses, and win the pressure and turnover battles.

Full primer:

UMass faces a Buffalo team built around its running back and a physical run defense, but the Bulls' coverage and pass protection could provide opportunities for the Minutemen.

Know Your Opponent: UMass Faces Buffalo In Flagship Cup Matchup.
UMass tries to snap a two-game skid Saturday at 1 p.m. on ESPN+ with the Flagship Cup on the line. The keys: contain Messiah Burch (three straight 100-yard games), attack Buffalo's coverage weaknesses (Keough: 3 TDs allowed, 152.9 rating), and win the pressure and turnover battles.

Buffalo is limping into Saturday's Flagship Cup game.

The Bulls have three wide receivers out and two more questionable, and preseason All-MAC pick Jasaiah Gathings doesn't appear on the two-deep in this week's official game notes. QB Elijah Holmes is out for the season and RB Terrance Shelton Jr. isn't on the depth chart either.

Good timing for UMass: the Minuteman defense leads the MAC at 18.2 points allowed per game.

Saturday, 1pm ET on ESPN+.

NEW: According to PFF: What Changed For UMass From 4-0 to 0-2.

PFF grades every UMass snap, and the numbers say the losing streak is about the defense, with one big exception that proves you still have to watch the games.

The defense collapsed at Eastern Michigan, then played a bend-don't-break game against Miami that the grade undersells. The offense barely moved. The quarterback changed. The run blocking was never good. And Inagawa's 89.3 needs a closer look.

Per PFF, UMass's team defense averaged an 81.5 grade across the 4-0 start and 60.6 across the last two weeks. That's the losing streak in one number.

One caveat, because the film matters too: the Miami grade (63.1) undersells how that unit played Saturday, holding the RedHawks to 20 points. The Eastern Michigan grade (58.1) needs no such caveat.

For the third time in three weeks, UMass offensive coordinator Max Warner is designing an offense around a different quarterback.

With Pop Watson unlikely to play and Aedan McCarthy likely out, the Minutemen head to Buffalo building around Logan Inagawa's mobility, Ty McCutcheon's pocket passing, or some combination of both.

Waiting is a Buffalo defense that just held Toledo to 308 yards and 8 points, led by MAC solo tackles leader SaVeon Brown.

Full breakdown:

UMass OC Max Warner built one game plan around Pop Watson, another around Aedan McCarthy. Now it looks like it’ll be Logan Inagawa’s mobility and/or Ty McCutcheon’s pocket passing.

Tough week for the Minutemen. After the 20-19 loss to Miami (Ohio), UMass faces a mounting injury crisis heading into Saturday's trip to Buffalo — most concerning at quarterback, where the top two options could both be sidelined.

That leaves Logan Inagawa, who went 6/6 with a last-second TD against Miami, and transfer Ty McCutcheon. Plus updates on Griffin, Kimmons, and the defensive line.

Full breakdown:

The Minutemen will be shorthanded again when they travel to Buffalo on Saturday.
