Congratulations to Elizabeth "Mimi" Bui, an incoming ABSN student who was selected as our first Coverdell Fellow! In the Peace Corps service, Mimi worked in the eastern region of Madagascar with local clinicians to offer support and advice to youth groups and pregnant women. From Mimi in her own words: "This scholarship gives me the opportunity to focus diligently on my studies. I wanted to become a nurse after I spent two years as a community health advisor with the Peace Corps. With a degree in nursing, I hope to continue to serve and promote underserved communities.” GW Nursing looks forward to welcoming you to campus Mimi!

Congratulations to Shadrea Johnson, recipient of the James M. Johnson Trust Scholarship! In her own words: "In Fall 2017, I decided to enroll in a traditional university to obtain my BSN. It did not fit into my lifestyle as a career changer, adult learner, and a parent. That was the moment when I realized that I had to make a move. I spent hours online searching for veteran-friendly, accelerated BSN programs. In late November 2018, I found GW and fell in love.

My experience at the GW School of Nursing was warming and very supportive. I am blessed to be in an environment surrounded by my fellow veterans and caring instructors. I will be forever grateful for my experience at the GW School of Nursing and the Johnston Trust Scholarship for providing financial assistance in my last semester."

Thank you GW for the past 2.5 years. Excited to see the "what's next" brings me. Stay safe and healthy during these difficulty times. To all the new Bachelor's Degree RNs.. it may look scary, but from one nurse to another, I love my career and I am so fortunate to help those in need. The 'Thank you' 'you are the best' and 'so lucky to have you as my nurse' will make up for all the hard work and scares that may come until then!! #gwnursing #msn2020
