As our younger sisters head back to school and new ones are just around the corner, let's think back! What was your favorite SAI memory from collegiate life?

08/22/2013

Are you going to convention in Summer 2015? Have you considered starting a fund to 'Meet SAI in St. Louis?!" Making small monthly contributions could add up to an unforgettable trip!

Why attend convention? Well, "conventions are important because they provide opportunities for discussion of fraternity matter and exchange of ideas... they bring a clearer understanding of the fraternity's projects, organizational structure, and duties and responsibilities of officers and members. Inspiration is gained from the direct and immediate contact with the fraternity." CPM

Come meet your fellow IC members and build upon lifelong friendships!

As the school year nears, it isn't too early to think about what you and your school needs to further and support music. SAI Philanthropies offers up to $5000 with the Music Education Outreach Grant to assist music programs in public schools, at any grade level, K-12.

Deadline for the application is not until May but why not start your 'dream list' as the school year begins and you catch yourself wishing for items (and, perhaps, time to make sure your membership is up-to-date)?!?

To be eligible for this grant, you must be:
- an initiated member of SAI or sponsored by an initiated member of SAI
- applying/sponsoring SAI must be in good financial standing with the fraternity
- current with national fees

Remember, you don't have to be the teacher- if you know a deserving school you can sponsor them!

Overnight America: March 18th, 2013 – Bernie Glassman, CeCe Otto - CBS St. Louis

As a 'sneak peak' at one of our feature articles for April's Quarterly Newsletter, here is an interview by Jon Grayson on the National Podcast "Overnight America." It features one of SAI's Friends of the Arts!

Zen Master Bernie Glassman had an opportunity to sit down with Jeff Bridges. Who, you may probably, remember is most famous for his role in the Cult Film “The Big Lebowski”. Bernie shared with us insight in his new book “The Dude and the Zen Master.”

A great post from Nationals! Please feel free to share with sisters you know who may be interested in becoming active again with SAI!

Want to know how to keep active with SAI after college?

Here are some helpful hints:

· Don’t miss out on communication from SAI by keeping your contact information current with NH (send an email to [email protected] or call 1-828-251-0606).

· Stay in good standing with the fraternity by staying current with your annual dues for the Alumnae Association (only $35 per year; may be paid online on our national website at:

https://www.sai-national.org/home/www.sai-national.org/home/Shop/tabid/568/Default.aspx

· Stay active by joining your local alumnae chapter or the International Chapter (if 50+ miles away from the closest alumnae chapter). Consider starting an alumnae chapter in your area (contact the NVP Extension at [email protected] for more information).

· Give back to SAI by volunteering to serve in a leadership position at the local, province, regional or national level. For more information, please contact Leslie Odom Miller, National President, [email protected].
