Washington, DC – July 16, 2020 – "Protecting Access to Post-COVID-19 Telehealth Act of 2020" was introduced in Congress.

This bipartisan bill seeks to continue the expanded use of critical telehealth services beyond the current COVID-19 pandemic. The original authors of the bill reiterated that telehealth is a proven and cost-effective way to deliver needed care to patients, particularly during a crisis. Since the spring, many Medicare patients who have needed routine care have been using telehealth to see their doctors without increasing the risk of spreading coronavirus, but many face an abrupt end to this practice after the crisis is over. The bill seeks to:

Remove arbitrary geographic restrictions on where a patient must be located in order to utilize telehealth services
Ensure federally qualified health centers and rural health centers can furnish telehealth services as distant sites
Make permanent the temporary waiver authority of the Secretary of Health & Human Services for future emergency periods and for the 90 days after the rescinding of a public health emergency period.
Let's all send our Congressman and Senators in DC an email or letter expressing support for this legislation or call them!

Do Not Let Life-Threatening Ailments Go Unchecked During the Pandemic | NCOA

Hospitals and clinics around the country are seeing drops in visits for complications from chronic diseases. Getting care can be critical in many of these cases and it's important to remember that hospitals have safety measures in place to keep us safe.

Don't delay care and continue regular appointments via telemedicine!

Emergency departments have seen fewer stroke and heart attack patients since COVID-19, but older adults with symptoms should not delay care.
