We at the Law Library are very excited to be a part of the courses that are being offered to undergraduates via the University of Georgia School of Law! Check out The Red & Black article below which includes a quote from our own Research and Copyright Services Librarian Stephen Wolfson — who for the spring 2020 semester, will be teaching a course entitled Pirates, Spies & Speech: Exploring the Intersection of Law & Technology in the Information Age, about copyright and privacy law

Having an understanding of the law is important to a well-rounded education, and the School of Law is pleased to share it will be offering nine classes for undergraduate students this fall.

Favorites from Fiction #9

To compliment our current display of legal-centric graphic novels and comics we are sharing another Favorite from Fiction - this one via Copyright & Research Services Law Librarian Stephen Wolfson, who writes: "When people think of superhero lawyers, Daredevil is usually the first character that comes to mind. However, my favorite has always been She Hulk. If you don’t know She Hulk’s background, her real name is Jennifer Walters. She gained her powers after receiving an emergency blood transfusion from her cousin, Bruce Banner (a.k.a. the other Hulk). And when she’s not punching bad guys, she’s working with clients as a lawyer — a lawyer who happens to be big, green, and super strong, that is..." Read more over at our blog!

Meet our newest Law Dawg: Bailey Ann! This 10 year old English bulldog was adopted through the Georgia English Bulldog Rescue last year by 1L Stephanie Caldwell. Bailey Ann works full-time as a couch pillow when she’s not snoring her way through any law school study period. But in her free time, she’s always down for a car ride or belly rub from new friends.

All members of the Law School Community (students, faculty and staff) are invited to submit a photo for possible selection as the Law Dawg. The featured entry for each issue will be selected at random from all entries received. Please note that honorary Law Dawgs (i.e. those of the feline, equine, porcine, avian, reptilian, etc. persuasion) are eligible as well. Please send your Law Dawg photo(s) to [email protected].

For fun and to give you a break from studying, we’re celebrating #nationallibraryweek by featuring some graphic novels that are in our library’s collection, rounded up by Special Collections Librarian Sharon Bradley and Collection Services Manager David Rutland.

The term “graphic novel” has been around since the mid 1960s, but there still seems to be disagreement about what a graphic novel really is. We like the creative artwork that goes into depicting a scene in the text, and sometimes the format itself makes a controversial or difficult topic seem more friendly and approachable.

Check out the highlights from our collection at the front of the library and over the DVD shelves:
