From the 1869 Grand Lodge of Ohio Proceedings:
On the 15th of November last, I laid the corner-stone of the
State Lunatic Asylum at Athens, in accordance with ancient
Masonic usage. The day was propitious, and large numbers of the craft from Athens and the neighboring towns were present. A very imposing procession was formed, and the ceremony was witnessed by thousands of the citizens of that section. An oration was delivered by Past Grand Master W. B. Thrall, which was listened to with profound attention by the-immense throng. The courteous and fraternal attentions extended to me on that occasion, by the brethren of Athens, will form one of the most pleasurable memories of my Masonic experience.
