Sigma Phi Epsilon, Ohio Xi

Sigma Phi Epsilon, Ohio Xi The official page for the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity chapter at Ohio University. Sigma Phi Epsilon is a one of the largest, most successful national fraternities in the United States.

SigEp was the first to reach a national GPA of 3.0 (in 2006) and is the fastest growing fraternity over the past two decades. The Ohio Xi chapter at Ohio University personifies both the principles set by the national organization and the unique, exciting culture at OU. Our organization is built around a member development program that enables the brothers to embody the ideal of a "sound mind and sound body". This official page is for alumni of the chapter, active brothers, the Greek community, and anyone interested in seeing what our organization is about.

Mission: Our mission is to "build balanced men", achieved through a commitment to a Sound Mind and Sound Body.

BROTHER IN NEED:

Yesterday, brother Justin Lubman (better known as Bandit, pledge class Fall '08) lost his home and all of his possessions in an apartment explosion in downtown New York. His roommate, Chris Schaub, also lost everything (while Chris is not a brother, he was a common mainstay at the SigEp House and 44 East State annex during his time at OU). We strongly encourage everyone out there, especially those who knew Bandit and Chris personally, to donate something to help them get their lives back together. Any amount helps, as they will need everything they can get to put new clothes on their backs. Let's show them the true meaning of Brotherly Love at a time when they need it most.

Two very close friends of mine and coworker at Varonis Justin Lubman and former coworker Chris Schaub lost everything in the East Village fire yesterday. We are asking for help. Any donation will do ($5, $10, $20, etc.). As we all know, NYC is an expensive city. Our goal is high because we want t...

Hey guys. Since Facebook likes to hide communication from people, unless you pay for posts, we've decided to focus on a new way to communicate to the alumni. We're going to start an alumni email newsletter. Details for frequency and content are being worked out, but at least get signed up.

Alright alumni! The guys on campus have some homecoming festivities they'd like to share with you. There's a social on Friday and, uh...breakfast...on Saturday. Then all the usual homecoming celebration.

Contact Eddie at (973) 699-5809 for the details. These are private events, so we aren't putting them on Facebook.

Just a reminder, the SigEp house is temporarily CLOSED, so please don't go looking for us there.

Ohio Xi turns grief into service after losing a chapter brother

Few things are as difficult to overcome as the passing of a beloved brother. When the men at Ohio University lost one of their brothers to a tragic skateboarding incident last year, they decided they had to do more than simply grieve for their brother’s passing.

Outstanding job gentlemen! The chapter managed to raise $3,420 over the past few weeks for Race for a Reason (an event which took place over the weekend involving a 5K, a triathlon, a mud run, and a 3K walk that each member selected to participate in), in honor of our brother who passed away tragically last year, David Spyke. All proceeds will be donated to the Brain Trauma Foundation.

As of today, the chapter has reached their $2500 goal, raising money for the Brain Trauma Foundation. Thanks to everyone who donated (you still can, if you want). Everyone be sure to congratulate the chapter on this accomplishment.

Great job guys!

It is with this love in our hearts that we join Race for a Reason 2014. The donations we strive to accrue will benefit the Brain Trauma Foundation in honor of our fallen brother, David Spyke. David was the epitome of what it means to be a Balanced Man and he was taken from us far too early following a tragic skateboarding accident. It is for David that we strive to make a difference and to ensure this type of tragedy does not touch the hearts of others like it has ours.
