💜🖤
We are so proud to continue to support q***r orgs and orgs that share our values, we truly believe building community is the way to move forward, and our newest Provisional Chapter grlohiou is proving why!
In light of state policy changes and the closure of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion offices on campus, the nominees have been working with both student and community organizations to create programming and share resources.
On campus, they hosted two public events as a part of Student Senate Pride Week. They hosted a Sober Mixer with the University Programming Council and Collegiate Recovery Community, creating a space where people could enjoy crafts and games, have non-alcoholic drinks, and have a social safe space. They also hosted a Q***r Clothing Swap, where students brought and took clothes. This was their most successful event of the year, and the donated clothes they had left over went to the Center for Student Engagement and Leadership, where they plan to create a community closet for students.
They work with two local non-profit organizations to ensure their community involvement doesn’t end on campus. They partner with regional and local q***r non-profit organizations, and host their monthly LGBTQIA+ social support group Rainbow Connections on campus. This has improved the group’s attendance, furthering a space for q***r community members to connect. They also have worked with Equitas Health, an LGBTQ+ non-profit health system. They did their New Member Community Service Project with them, packing Safer S*x Kits. They also worked with them and their campus Multicultural Greek Council to host an HIV/STI 101 Talk, which provided sexual health resources and information to over thirty students.
