Cause Sig Delts Do It Better!
Sigma Delta Tau was founded not only to provide social and philanthropic services to its sisters and to its community, but to also respect and foster the individuality of each member.
Sigma Delta Tau chapters nationwide and at the University of Georgia fundraise and participate in many philanthropies. In 1982, Prevent Child Abuse America was adopted as SDT’s national philanthropy. At the University of Georgia sisters actively raise money for this cause. Greek Grind our biggest and most popular philanthropic event raises money for Prevent Child Abuse America. SDT alone has raised over $17,000 annually and will continue to grow with its rising popularity. Additionally, Eta Chapter’s local philanthropy, Breast Cancer Awareness, is also close to our hearts. To raise money and promote breast cancer awareness, we have sold awareness merchandise, held a NBA March madness fundraiser, and hosted a designer denim event.
Sigma Delta Tau sisters not only participate and serve within the sorority, but are also actively involved on campus. Sigma Delta Tau sisters serve as executive board members for Relay for Life, Promote Africa, Best Buddies, Dawgs for Israel, UGA Heroes, UGA Miracle, and Autism UGA. Additionally, SDT sisters have participated in the Susan G Komen 3 day walk for breast cancer , organized a campus wide bone marrow drive, and have participated in the fight against Ovarian cancer by spinning for 24 hours. Philanthropies have a special place in every sister’s heart and holds priority in their lives. With these and many other events, sister stay busy and build relationships that will last a lifetime.
Eta is a 2009-2010 Sigma Delta Tau Diamond Chapter!
