UGA Recreational Sports UGA's Dept. of Recreational Sports, housed in the Ramsey Student Center, provides recreational opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and community.

The Department of Recreational Sports in the Division of Student Affairs promotes healthy lifestyle choices by providing development, growth, and education for the University of Georgia through the spirit of recreation. Rec Sports is housed in the 440,000 square foot Ramsey Student Center on the east side of UGA's campus. Program areas include Aquatics, Competitive Sports, Fitness & Wellness, Outdoor Recreation and Strength & Conditioning. The Ramsey Center includes the Gabrielsen Natatorium's three pools, two strength & conditioning rooms and outlooks with cardio equipment, racquetball courts, the Outdoor Recreation Center, a climbing wall and bouldering wall, three main gyms and fitness studios. Other facilities like the Recreational Sports Complex and Challenge Course are also managed by Rec Sports. Values: Ram Fam: Everyone is welcome: come play! TOMORROW is the last day to register for the Personal Training and Group Fitness Certifications! We love watching our trainers change lives 🙌

Morgan Rossi, aerial silks artist and contortionist, wanted others to experience the fullness of what their bodies are capable of doing. She received her Group Fitness Certification & started teaching a mobility class that drew regulars from all walks of life.
⭐️
“I get participants of all body shapes, sizes, capabilities, and ages,” said Rossi. “I love to see the physical progression in my regulars, and I don’t know if they realize how much of a compliment it is when they return to my class.”
⭐️
Rossi explained how stretching requires a conversation with the body to tune into different muscles. She walks participants through active muscle recruitment, which requires putting brain energy into having more control over muscles.
⭐️
“If you are relying too much on your biceps, you can tune into other muscles to get them to do more for you,” she said. “Never stretch passively...A lot of the things we do in class are to counteract the backpack carrying and desk sitting most of my participants do throughout the day.”

I am sure we are missing intramural sports just as much as you are! During this time of social distancing, we start to reflect on some of our favorite moments from the past year. One of ours just so happens to be at the Flag Football Championships held in Sanford Stadium! After Dawg Docs took the win against Vet Med, they came together in a true show of sportsmanship as they danced together in the cold temperatures of a December night in Athens.
