Today is #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that empowers each and every one of us to make a positive impact in our communities. Jewish students like Tal illustrate just how important Hillel is in making students feel connected to Jewish community and supported during this time of social distancing.

This #GivingTuesday, please think about supporting OU Hillel so we can continue to be a catalyst for positive transformation in our student’s lives, no matter the challenges we face during this pandemic.

Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday and the launch of our #LightUpHillel for Hanukah campaign. Today we are giving you our first "Why Hillel?" from Bronx born and raised, OU Sophomore, Erykah Gaston.

"Hillel has been my home away from home since Freshman Shabbat. When thinking “why Hillel” I remember all the times the staff and other students were there for me; all the meals shared to together and all the fun we have had! From challah braiding to Jewish learning, and even craft & trivia nights, I love my time at hillel in person and virtually, I love exploring Judaism at Hillel and being a part of the Hillel family!"

Erykah, and all of our students, are why we need your support! Donate starting tomorrow at https://bit.ly/ouhilleldonate and thanks to two very special donors all of our #GivingTuesday & #LightUpHillel donations will be matched up to $6000.

Eve Barlow is a Scottish journalist who covers music, film, and culture. She's written for publications such as Vulture, The Guardian, GQ, and Empire. Identifying as a Zionist Jew, she has written articles about the rise of antisemitism in America and why combatting antisemitism is a matter for everybody.
Eve has transformed her Instagram page into a space for Jewish advocacy and education. She’s put her personal and professional life at risk all in the name for standing up and speaking out against antisemitism.

Join us on Thursday as Eve, along with two other panelists, share their personal journeys into advocacy as well as share a brief history of the recent swell of antisemitic sentiment on social media outlets and how they're working to eradicate it. Debbie started her jewelry company, Roots Metals, in 2018 after a trip to India with her sister. Inspired by the incredible colors, views, smells, cultures, sounds, tastes, languages, and textures around her, Debbie felt compelled to examine her own cultures and upbringing in her creative work. Roots Metals' pieces, inspired by Jewish, Middle Eastern, and Latin American motifs, pay homage to Debbie’s cultures and heritage and to her homes of Israel and Costa Rica.

Debbie has transformed her Instagram page into a space for Jewish advocacy and education. She’s put her personal and professional life at risk all in the name for standing up and speaking out against antisemitism.
