The world premiere of Kevin Day's "More than words...", commissioned by Dr Connie Frigo, performed by the UGA saxophone studio in Tempe, AZ at NASA.

"Words.
Our words influence our thoughts.
Our thoughts influence our actions.
Our actions impact those around us."

Please watch and listen to the world premiere of "More than words..." by Kevin Day, performed by the saxophone studio in Tempe, AZ in early March, before the pandemic. The content of the spoken word was relevant before the thick of the pandemic, but takes on new meaning and greater relevancy now. This is a project we are deeply proud of, and we thank Kevin Day for diving heart first into this commission, unafraid of the resultant dialogue, music and spoken word that emerged.

Be sure to check out this arrangement from our own graduating senior, Cameron Gwynn!

While we won't be taking part in a processional into Hodgson Hall tomorrow afternoon, we do have something exciting planned to celebrate our School of Music grads!! Be sure to check back at 5 pm tomorrow, May 7th for the virtual premiere of a new arrangement of the graduation standard Pomp&Circumstance by our own senior Cameron Gwynn (BMus Composition, BMus Music Theory, AB Music, Piano). Cameron brings his own compositional flair to the piece, and Georgia fans will recognize a couple other tunes added to the piece. What makes this project so special is that it was written to be performed by many of our graduating seniors and graduate students! We can't wait to share it with you! #UGAgrad #UGA20

"Over the past four years I’ve gotten to perform with and compose for some of the most amazing musicians I have ever met. I’ve had some profoundly influential professors and friends whose contributions to my development as a musician cannot be overstated, and I am extremely grateful for that. The future is uncertain to us, but hope springs eternal. Whether we suffer in paucity or thrive in abundance, our resilience outlasts adversity every time."
